1400 #FireWatch update: Unfortunately Congress continued with their own selfish agenda and continued to lie to us throughout this process. Over 78,000 Afghans remain with uncertain future. Efforts by Veterans, everyday Americans, Afghans, Afghan Americans and Allies were ignored.
Given the current trajectory of Special Immigrant Visas, it is highly unlikely that a significant number will be granted within the next four years. Moreover, if the administration remains Republican following the next presidential election, it is unlikely that the situation will improve even within the next eight years. Consequently, this may mark the end of SIV, P1, P2, family reunification, and support for our Afghan allies.
Just 24 hours left until the #Pakistan government's forced deportation deadline. People cant sleep, torn between a dire choice of life and death. We are acutely aware that returning means death for far too many.

It's disheartening that we haven't made significant progress in passing the AAA over the past year. It's high time we demonstrate a stronger commitment to our veterans and national security. The AAA is intricately linked to both these crucial issues, and addressing it should be a priority.

The U.S. made a commitment to the brave Afghans who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with American troops throughout 20 years of war. We promised to protect them, just as they did for us.
This amendment ensures the SIV program will continue to be a lifeline to support our allies. The full Senate must approve this legislation to ensure we deliver on our promises and promote our national security interests.

Just gave floor speech to include the bipartisan Afghan Adjustment Act amendment on defense bill. It should be called the COVENANT bill. Keeping our promises to those who stood with us. We have the votes. We need the vote.
2/3 “Each passing day we allow the DEADLY status quo to remain—a non-functional Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program and a Taliban campaign to hunt down and murder our allies—is a GIFT TO OUR ENEMIES and their HEINOUS efforts."
