Taniolohun vs Ilorin Heritage: Court Adjourns Case Till September 1
The Upper Area Court II, Ilorin Judicial Division, on Monday, sat on the case involving Abdulazeez Adegbola, popularly known as Taniolohun, following a criminal complaint filed by the Ilorin Heritage Preservation Foundation.
The case centres on allegations that Taniolohun published a social media video which the complainant described as a mockery of Islamic sacred prayer, with alleged elements capable of inciting religious disturbance, insulting or inciting contempt of religious creed and injurious falsehood.
The complainant further alleged that the video, circulated on Facebook, YouTube and TikTok, generated hostile comments against Muslims, and that the defendant subsequently made another video in response to demands for a retraction and apology.
The complaint was brought under Sections 114, 210 and 393(1) of the Penal Code Law, Cap P4, Laws of Kwara State.
At Monday’s sitting, Abdulazeez Adegbola Taniolohun and his lawyer were both absent from court.
Speaking after the proceedings, counsel to the Ilorin Heritage Preservation Foundation, Barrister Ademola Ajasa, said he was surprised by the absence, noting that the defendant was aware that the court was scheduled to sit on Monday, August 10, 2026.
According to Ajasa, considering that the defendant was aware of the scheduled court date, he was surprised that neither Taniolohun nor his legal representative appeared before the court.
The court subsequently adjourned the case to September 1, 2026, for further proceedings.
The case remains pending before the court, and the allegations against Taniolohun have not been determined by the court.
