I'm thrilled to announce the commencement of our Ramadan package initiative, aimed at providing essential food items to women across all 23 LGAs of Sokoto. This initiative underscores our dedication to inclusivity and ensuring the welfare of all residents, particularly women.
It was a great honour to welcome our respected elder, former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State and Chairman of NIWA, Barrister Mukhtari Shagari, to perform the flag-off of the 7.5km Dange–Fajaldu–Wababe Road in Dange Shuni Local Government Area. I sincerely thank him for honouring our invitation and for his thoughtful remarks, which reflect his enduring commitment to the peace, unity and development of Sokoto State.
This ₦5.33 billion road project, being executed in partnership with RAAMP and the World Bank, is a strategic investment that will enhance rural connectivity, strengthen agricultural value chains, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and improve access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other essential services. It is another important step in our administration’s commitment to ensuring that development reaches every corner of our state.
I also appreciate the continued support of our development partners, traditional institutions, community leaders and the good people of Dange Shuni for their confidence in our vision. We will continue to build modern infrastructure, expand economic opportunities, and improve the quality of life for all our citizens.
By the grace of Allah, we remain steadfast in delivering purposeful, people-centred governance and building a more connected, prosperous and inclusive Sokoto State. -AAS

I had the honour of joining our Mother of the Nation, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, and other esteem leaders at the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally 2026, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
The programme, themed “The Power of 10 Million: One Voice, One Movement, One Choice,” brought together women from across Nigeria and served as a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we unite around a shared vision and purpose.
It was truly inspiring to see women from all walks of life including our strong and vibrant women from Sokoto State come together in support of inclusion, empowerment, and national development.
I commend Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for her unwavering commitment to advancing the cause of women across Nigeria. I also appreciate the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and her team for organising such a remarkable initiative, as well as for their continued leadership and dedication.
This reminds us that when women come together, support one another, and stay focused on a common goal, real change can happen. Im hopeful about what we can continue to achieve together.
Today, as we celebrate the strength, resilience, and grace of women everywhere, I encourage us all to continue to inspire, lead, and shine in everything we do. Our contributions as women make the world a better place.
I wish to assure you that the administration of His Excellency, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, remains committed to prioritizing the welfare of women and children through various interventions and support programmes.
You may recall that a significant number of women were appointed as Commissioners, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, Permanent Secretaries, Executive Secretaries, and Heads of various Departments and Agencies; an unprecedented development in the history of our dear state.
On several occasions, the administration has also empowered many small and medium-scale women entrepreneurs with cash assistance, while others have benefited from various skills acquisition programmes aimed at strengthening their economic independence.
Pregnant women and children will continue to receive special attention, as a number of Primary Healthcare Centres across the state have been renovated to bring healthcare services closer to the grassroots. This initiative enables rural women to access antenatal care services in their respective communities with ease.
I call on the good people of Sokoto State to continue to support the present administration with prayers so that we can sustain these achievements and advance the progress of our dear state.
Wishing you a day filled with appreciation, joy, and empowerment.
Happy International Women’s Day to the beautiful women of Sokoto State in particular, and Nigeria in general.

Nigeria–US Joint Airstrike Hits Terrorist Targets in Tangaza; Sokoto State Government Welcomes Development
The Sokoto State Government confirms an airstrike carried out yesterday by the Nigerian Military in collaboration with the United States Government in Tangaza Local Government Area, without recording any civilian casualties.
The impact of the airstrike has not yet been fully determined, as assessments by the Joint Operations are still ongoing.
The circumstances surrounding objects found at a location near Jabo Town in Tambuwal Local Government Area could also not be immediately explained, as the outcome of analysis by Nigeria/US Military authorities is still being awaited. However, no civilian casualties were recorded in Jabo as well.
Sokoto State welcomes any collaboration between Nigeria and all relevant global stakeholders aimed at curbing the menace of terrorism and cross-border crimes in the State.
The ongoing operations are geared towards securing the State and ensuring the protection of the lives and property of the citizenry.
Over the past two years, the Sokoto State Government has consistently supported security agencies in the fight against banditry and terrorism by providing the necessary equipment to enhance safety across the State.
The State Government therefore calls on residents of affected areas to continue to cooperate with both the Federal and State Governments by providing useful information to security agencies in order to sustain ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security, and to continue to pray to Almighty Allah to assist our security agencies in defeating criminals in the State and the country at large.
Yesterday, I represented the Nigeria’s First Lady, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, at the launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Economic Empowerment Programme for Persons with Disabilities in Sokoto State.
In honour of the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities, N50 million was disbursed to support persons with disabilities in Sokoto. Across Nigeria, 9,500 beneficiaries received N200,000 each, totalling N1.9 billion.
I also supported seven disability associations in Sokoto with N2 million each, to strengthen their activities and empower more members.
The present administration under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Aliyu has, since assuming office, prioritised the welfare of persons with disabilities and increased their monthly stipends from N6,500 to N10,000, with 6,679 beneficiaries currently enrolled. It has also delivered 1,000 hand-cycles to enhance mobility.
Our commitment remains firm: inclusion, dignity, and opportunity for all.
Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

With gratitude to Allah, we launched the Maternal Welfare Support Scheme for mothers of triplets across Sokoto State yesterday.
This initiative builds upon a solid foundation. Earlier this year, we successfully extended this same gesture to families in the local governments of Yabo, Binji, Silame, Wurno, and Goronyo.
While the birth of triplets is a celebrated blessing, it also brings unique challenges. This program is our administration's direct response.
With yesterday's event, we have now provided comprehensive support to 26 families ; from across the 23 Local Government Areas. Each care package included 3 bags of rice, 2 bags of millet, 30 sets of clothing to the babies, diapers, baby milk, and 1 million Naira.
Aligned with the present administration's commitment to family welfare, this program delivers targeted nutritional and material support. Its goals are clear: to ease the burdens on mothers, safeguard early childhood development, and ensure every child in Sokoto State has a fair start in life.
This is an ongoing commitment. By empowering our mothers, we are investing in a stronger, healthier future for our entire state- FAA
On Thursday, 18th September 2025, we hosted the wife of the Vice President and National Vice Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Her Excellency Nana Kashim Shettima, and her entourage. They were in Sokoto to represent the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Her Excellency Sen. Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu, CON, for the flag-off of the Initiative's distribution of food items to vulnerable groups in the state.
The program is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative's social investment programme in collaboration with BUA Africa and an anonymous donor. It supported three thousand vulnerable people and people with disabilities with 25kg bags of rice, maize, millet, and transport fare for each beneficiary.
At the event, held at the Kasarawa International Conference Centre, the National Vice Chairman announced that the initiative will unveil its “Flow with Confidence” programme on October 2nd, targeting 370,000 schoolgirls nationwide with a one-year supply of disposable sanitary pads to encourage school attendance during their menstrual cycle.
In my address, I highlighted some of the programmes executed under the Renewed Hope Initiative in the state, which cut across women's economic empowerment, the elderly support scheme, education support, social investment, women in ICT, as well as the agricultural support scheme.
As proud beneficiaries of the initiative, on behalf of the government and good people of Sokoto State, we thank the mother of the nation for her care, support, and commitment towards uplifting the standard of living of many Nigerians across states, local governments, and wards - FAA
Yesterday marks another milestone in our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the people of Sokoto State. At Dundaye in Wamakko LGA, we launched the distribution of 20 motorized boats and 2,000 life jackets to 10 flood-prone Local Government Areas of Sokoto State. This intervention is a fulfillment of our promise to protect lives, livelihoods, and strengthen disaster preparedness across our communities.
Last year, 22 out of 23 LGAs in our state were devastated by flooding, leading to the loss of farmlands, livestock, homes, and many precious lives. These painful experiences reinforce our determination to take bold, preventive steps. Sokoto now stands as the second state after Lagos to deploy motorized boats for inland water transportation, a pioneering initiative in Northern Nigeria.
I strongly caution all beneficiaries to use these boats responsibly. Overloading or misuse will not be tolerated. Local government chairmen are directed to ensure strict safety compliance and proper maintenance so that these assets serve our people for years to come.
Our administration remains committed to turning past tragedies into lessons that shape a safer future. With God’s guidance and the collective support of our people, we will continue to build resilient communities and safeguard the lives of all citizens. -AAS
Earlier today, on behalf of the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Bola Tinubu, I launched a major economic empowerment programme for women, funded by a N1 billion grant from the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
The initiative, a collaboration between the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and the Tony Elumelu Foundation, aims to directly support 18,500 women traders and small-scale business owners across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The programme is designed to bolster the entrepreneurial spirit of Nigerian women and is not a loan. It is a grant and a seed of renewed hope to help recapitalize women's existing businesses. It is our firm belief that when you empower a woman, you empower a household, a community, and indeed, a nation.
Under the programme, a total of Twenty-Five Million Naira (N25,000,000) was disbursed. Five hundred pre-selected women from 23 local government areas each received a direct grant of N50,000 to strengthen and grow their small businesses.
I expressed my profound gratitude to the First Lady of Nigeria and the Tony Elumelu Foundation for this significant contribution.
I also extend my special appreciation to my dear husband, the people’s governor, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, for his tireless efforts in providing an enabling environment for the successful implementation of our programmes.

Yesterday, I led a condolence visit to communities in Kware and Gwadabawa LGAs affected by recent bandit attacks. These incidents are painful, tragic, and deeply inhumane, but we must accept them as acts decreed by Almighty Allah, while remaining steadfast in our resolve to secure Sokoto State.
As immediate relief, the State Government has disbursed ₦69.75m and 210 bags of rice to victims and their families. Each bereaved family will receive ₦2m and 5 bags of rice, while the injured will receive ₦250,000 and 3 bags of rice.
While we continue to support security agencies with logistics and resources, I am deeply concerned about the growing menace of informants within our communities. These individuals, who aid bandits, are even more dangerous than the criminals themselves.
I call on our community and religious leaders to intensify sensitization against harboring informants, and I urge citizens to expose them without hesitation. The fight against insecurity requires collective vigilance, courage, and unity of purpose.
On behalf of the Sokoto State Government, I reaffirm our determination to restore lasting peace and security across our dear state. With the support of Almighty Allah and the cooperation of our people, we will defeat banditry and protect every life and community. -AAS
