TROOPS OF OPERATION ENDURING PEACE RESCUE NINE KIDNAP VICTIMS, FOIL ABDUCTION ATTEMPTS, ARREST THREE SUSPECTS IN PLATEAU AND KADUNA

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have recorded significant operational successes in Plateau and Kaduna States, rescuing nine kidnap victims, foiling abduction attempts, and arresting three suspected kidnappers during separate intelligence-led operations.

In Pandam Forest, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State, troops conducted a clearance operation on suspected bandits’ hideouts in the early hours of 24 June 2026. The bandits opened sporadic fire in an attempt to escape, but the sustained pressure mounted by the troops enabled three kidnap victims to flee from captivity and regain their freedom.

As troops continued combing the forest, five additional victims emerged from the bush and were safely rescued, bringing the total number of rescued victims to eight. No casualties were recorded among security personnel, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing bandits and dismantle their hideouts.

In a separate operation along the Gidan Waya–Nisama Road in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops foiled an abduction attempt after responding to a distress call. On sighting the approaching troops, the kidnappers fled into nearby bushes after abducting one occupant of a J5 vehicle conveying onions. The troops immediately pursued the fleeing criminals, forcing them to abandon the victim, who was rescued unhurt. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

In Dong Village, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, troops also thwarted an attempted kidnap following a swift response to a distress call. Acting on credible information from residents and in collaboration with Operation Rainbow, troops arrested three suspected kidnappers identified as Abok Ajiji (38), Joseph Ajiji (33), and Chollom Thomas (37).
