Toxic foam has been spotted for nearly a month in the South Pennai River near #KelavarapalliDam in #Hosur, Krishnagiri district, alarming local farmers.

The situation worsened after recent rainfall in Karnataka increased water inflow into the dam. Kelavarapalli Dam serves as a critical irrigation source for thousands of acres of farmland in the region, and farmers fear the pollution could damage crops and harm the river's ecology.

Cultivators are now demanding that the #TamilNadu and #Karnataka governments jointly investigate the source of the contamination.

Water samples are currently under analysis, with pollution control boards from both states involved in the probe.

Farmers warn that if left unaddressed, the pollution could also affect biodiversity and public health across the wider Krishnagiri region.
