I’ve been immensely impressed recently with how Wayne Rooney has improved as a pundit.
Very little needless hyperbole, only speaks when he has something to offer, and is very good at distancing his own feelings to offer objective criticism. Really nice to watch. 👌🏽
When sports stars become as big as Lionel Messi, it’s tempting to say they transcend the sport.
But Messi doesn’t, really. Messi isn’t a big celebrity, he’s not a big personality, he’s probably actually a bit boring.
Messi doesn’t transcend football.
He’s pure football.

It’s not just his goals… Messi’s contribution to Argentina is incredible. What he sees, the time, the space, the killer pass. He plays a different game to everyone else. Ronaldo can’t lace Messi’s boots right now. It’s not even a competition anymore.
🚨 Wayne Rooney: “Kylian Mbappé is the CLOSEST to R9 I have ever seen.
I think we’re at danger of not appreciating him now and then we’re gonna look back and say ‘I grew up in that generation, why didn’t I appreciate it a bit more’.
In our society, instead of appreciating what’s in front of them, we’re trying to look at the negatives.
We say: ‘He didn’t do this here, he didn’t do this there’, instead of saying let’s just enjoy this GENERATIONAL talent who we’re possibly NEVER gonna see anything like him again.” @BBCSport

If they get 75 for him, it’s good business. He’s Bruno’s runner and that’s much easier to replace than Bruno. He could have done much better than Spurs though…
