I love a good action movie, a clever whodunit, and an exciting thriller. But lately I've been really into slow-moving, character-driven stuff that takes human psychology seriously. Some of my recent favorites (in no particular order):
Like Candide at the beginning of Voltaire's story, I keep searching for why there is evil in what’s supposed to be the best of all possible worlds - while my wife, like Candide at the end, reminds me: “We must cultivate our garden.”

If getting a degree in philosophy has convinced me of anything, it is this:
A sufficiently technical philosophical phrase will always make for a killer rock band name.
My favorite example is "nuclear bundle theory"
You know Dasher and Dancer And Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid And Donner and Blitzen

Voters being “loyal” to a politician or a party is among the dumbest things ever.
It should be the exact opposite.
Too many people are far more loyal to that political stuff than their spouses, families, friends, churches, colleagues, and neighbors.
Gross.
