Supporting religious freedom is not suggesting that all religions are equally true. That is logically impossible, since religions make exclusive claims. However, we can love our neighbor enough to allow them the same freedom of conscience that we enjoy.
@JustinPetersMin I think you will see more states opt for firing squads. Nitrogen Asphyxiation is a new approach, but lethal injections are going to become a thing of the past. Especially with SCOTUS already ruling that executions do not have to be pain free. (Bucklew v. Precythe)
@LilaGraceRose If Christa Pike dies from the mistakes made at the execution, it will still be a better death that what she chose for her victim. How is that inhumane?
In my agency (a state prison system), this is not the case. Looking through the comments, I see a common misconception that most prisons are now private, for-profit, businesses. Private prisons make up 8% of bed space in American prisons and most of that is for ICE detainees. Your average prison is run by the government.
@Protestia Sadly, there have been enough sermons and conferences that have treated the book as pornography, hoping to elicit a carnal response from the congregation. I can see why a pastor might want to give people a heads up if he thought they had seen it handled that way before.
@The_FJC The day after the Pearl Harbor attack, my great grandfather went to the corner store and paid $10 for a Springfield 12 gauge break action shotgun. I have that shotgun.
@EvangelicalDW Lethal Injection is getting difficult. You are going to see states move to more absolute methods soon. Nitrogen Asphyxiation will be a novel method, but firing squads will become more prominent. SCOTUS has already ruled that executions need not be pain free.
