I normally don’t think much of these pictures showing people on smartphones but this video from last night in Paris is pretty wild.

"The e-scooter company Bird, which became the fastest startup ever to land a $1 billion valuation, was delisted from the NYSE and is now worth $7 million. That’s less than a third of the $22 million its founder paid for a Miami mansion in 2021."

This is Joseph Ruiz. In 2021, the FBI seized his life savings—$57,000—from his safe deposit box in LA. He could no longer afford his medical treatments & he struggled to buy food.
The kicker: He wasn't suspected of a crime.
There are many other victims in this saga. A thread.

Spent some time discussing hot topics in data with the @DUNYevent team. One of the things I think we’re underestimating is that AI will make qualitative datasets quantitative. “Based on security footage which of my wait staff makes customers happy?” was once hard to answer.
Recent papers support that current artificial intelligence paradigm - deep learning - is based on compression.
Transformers & diffusion models encode compressed versions of the original data.
AI is currently just glorified compression.

HRW’s deputy programme director Tom Porteous says that in the case of Ukraine, the US and Europe denounced Russian war crimes. Fast forward 18 months from Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the West is largely silent on war crimes by Israel in Gaza.
@chaseleantj Wow, these are absolutely stunning. The level of detail DALL·E 3 adds leaves me in complete awe.

@Forward4ever@jukkan Great post! Perhaps could benefit from a few more recommendations as it relates to ALM/pipelines, environment guard rails, documentation and good ole multiplexing!
Uh, nope. You have to be invited via a motion to testify at a HoC committee meeting, and Smith wasn't. The invite was specifically for Ministers Jean and Neudorf - not the Alberta govt. You can't just sub in, even if you're the premier. https://t.co/trnpeGYWdO #ableg#cdnpoli
