@carmenjoyimes@coramdeo1@philvischer Interestingly, it doesn’t appear that @philvischer offered any exegesis in his initial post. He simply quoted scripture and everyone reacted through a political paradigm. That might be the bigger concern.
@carmenjoyimes Thank you. I was aware of Genesis 46 but was ignorant of the reverence that Egyptians had for sheep. Found this absolutely intriguing and will require further study. To the books!
@carmenjoyimes@CTmagazine I always find it interesting when biblical characters are reduced to one choice or decision. Is David a man after Yahweh's heart or a murderer? Both. Loved reading a more nuanced perspective on Eve.
@davidsliker 100%. This week is about the triumph of our Great King and that should be the focus alone, not things that are passing away in the face of his glorious reign.
When Jesus began his ministry, it was dated with reference to the reigns of Roman emperors (“in the 15th year of Tiberius…”).
We now date the reigns of those emperors with reference to the ministry—more particularly the birth—of Jesus (e.g., Tiberius reigned from AD 14…).

“The gospel is a political gospel. Christians are engaged in politics, but it is a politics of the kingdom that reveals the insufficiency of all politics based on coercion and falsehood, and finds the true source of power in servanthood rather than dominion.” — Hauerwas
Christianity never has and never will need saving. It is the vehicle that delivers the message that Jesus saves because humans could never do so themselves. Any suggestion otherwise misses the point.
Spent the day with some amazing people sermon prepping for the Christmas season! Feeling unbelievably blessed and grateful. #godkeepshispromises#covecitychurch https://t.co/ah9R4HNJx4
What is biblical justice? In this article I show how both Marxism and Libertarianism fall short of the biblical view. Each secular theory of justice addresses one or some of the five facets of biblical justice, but none addresses them all.
