I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States.

And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness:

You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence.

This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns.

Success is equated with exploitation.
Ambition is looked upon with contempt.

This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom.

But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated.

This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet.

And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America:

Thank God for the United States.

Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man.
Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners.

Long may your admirable country dominate the world.

Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states.

May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning.

Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill.

There have been 4 major revolutions in the past 250 years: American, French, Russian, and Chinese. Only one led to individual rights and prosperity. The others led to mass death and tyranny. The US revolution was unique because it said two things: 1. Our rights come from God not from the govt. 2. Humans are power -hungry so we need to limit govt power. Every Other Civilized Nation on Earth Has Abolished Unconditional Birthright Citizenship:

United Kingdom -- Abolished in 1981. Now requires at least one parent to be a British citizen or "settled" in the UK.

Ireland — Last in Europe to end it; 2004 referendum/2005 law requires at least one parent to be an Irish/British citizen or meet residency conditions.

India — Abolished in 2004. Now requires at least one parent to be a citizen (and the other a legal migrant, not undocumented). Response to illegal immigration concerns.

Australia — Restricted in 1986. Requires a parent to be a citizen or permanent resident.

New Zealand — Restricted in 2006. Parental/residency requirements.

Dominican Republic — Major restrictions in 2013. Retroactive elements affecting those born after 1929 without Dominican parentage.

Pakistan — Abolished in 2024. Requires a citizen/permanent resident parent or long-term residency.

Most of Europe. France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Nordic countries, Eastern Europe — Many have conditional birthright or primarily on descent.

Today’s decision regarding birthright citizenship is a travesty.

The Fourteenth Amendment was written to overturn Dred Scott and guarantee citizenship to freed slaves—not to create automatic citizenship for the children of those who violate our immigration laws or are only temporarily in the United States. This decision will only invite further exploitation of our immigration system.

The Court adopted an interpretation that departs from the original meaning of the Constitution and incentivizes illegal immigration.

Congress retains the authority to clarify federal law, and it should act immediately to restore the original meaning of the Citizenship Clause and protect the integrity of American citizenship.
