@AmericanGwyn A key part of what Wordsworth actually said gets left out: "Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.” This sounds more like an argument for the detachment from raw unprocessed emotion that craft affords.
@mualphaxi@X Maybe...but "reinvigorating" American culture at some point has to mean creating and embracing NEW things altogether and not just rebooting/repurposing already established, copyrighted stuff. More Mickey Mouse and Sherlock Holmes wouldn't exactly feel like a cultural renaissance.
@MsMelChen A similar but easier-to-defend approach would be tuition based on the cost to educate someone (i.e., the facilities/resources to educate an English major tend to cost less than those to educate a physician or engineer).
