@NonyaBidne94503@CWilson2197 I guess to me, the dialogue in ANH is enough precedent. Sure maybe a deflector shield could protect them from that, maybe not. Delving deep into that argument doesnt hold water to me in a space fantasy movie. Its a fun conversation maybe but not real criticism imo
@JSPtheSecond@fentrocity@TheElectionof80@SonicFront70231@CWilson2197 I feel the opposite. I feel others are adding more lore that wasnt explained in the films. To me its pretty simple 1. Han says crashing into stuff at hyperspeed would be bad and damaging.
2. Holdo crashes into stuff at hyperspeed and causes damage.
Seems like logical to me
@NonyaBidne94503@CWilson2197 I do think you're getting lost in the science details for a space fantasy movie. Im talking purely in the films world where I think it makes enough sense to work
@JSPtheSecond@fentrocity@TheElectionof80@SonicFront70231@CWilson2197 When Han says that it clarifies that abetting outside of hyperspace can affect anything in hyperspace. And it didnt obliterate an entire fleet, the FO was still able to come down to craft. It destroyed one ship (not fully) and a few ships behind because it was behind it.
@SonicFront70231@CWilson2197 They were desperate. It was the only way to save the resistance. And again, it doesn't matter that it wasn't done. The script said it was possible. If you think thats such a big flaw, thats a flaw with the original films because they are the ones that set it up
@SonicFront70231@CWilson2197 Maybe they didnt have the ships to spare. Honestly, I don't really care. I don't need to see it happen to believe its possible. They used exposition to explain it 40 years before doing it
@SonicFront70231@CWilson2197 Ok so if it breaks the rules, its ANH that does it. Not TLJ. Things like that are common in Fantasy, you see it in LOTR, HP, even other SW. Classic "why didnt they" is impossible to avoid.
