The final game Bobby Cox attended. He was honored at Truist Park on August 22 during the 30th anniversary celebration of the Atlanta #Braves’ 1995 World Series championship team.
Rest in peace to one of baseball’s all-time greats.
Atlanta today also placed OF Ronald Acuña Jr. on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring and selected INF Rowdy Tellez to the major league roster. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club designated RHP Jhancarlos Lara for assignment.
The #Braves today selected RHP James Karinchak to the major league roster and designated RHP Carlos Carrasco for assignment. The club also recalled RHP JR Ritchie to Atlanta and placed RHP Tyler Kinley on the 15-day injured list, backdated to June 8, with right elbow inflammation.
Ronald Acuña will not be placed on the injured list at this time. He’s day-to-day for now. Walt Weiss also added that they don’t think it’s “as bad as the last one” (referring to his hamstring injury earlier this year)
Matt Olson sends homer No. 18 411 feet to right field. #Braves up 2-0 in the first inning.
The White Sox used LHP Brandon Eisert as an opener to face Michael Harris II and Olson, and both ended up scoring.
RHP Erick Fedde has since taken over.
Walt Weiss said Drake Baldwin is currently at the club’s complex in Florida.
Baldwin is scheduled to face live batting practice on Thursday and Friday, and if all goes well, the plan is for him to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday and Sunday.
Hurston Waldrep went two innings today in his second Florida Complex League outing.
Waldrep threw two innings, walked three, struck out four and allowed a run on two hits. Also had a wild pitch and pitch timer violation.
The #Braves today selected C Austin Wynns to the major league roster and designated C Chadwick Tromp for assignment. Atlanta also selected OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to the major league roster and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club transferred C Sean Murphy to the 60-day injured list.
Home run #17 for Matt Olson, who drove a Kevin Gausman slider 355 feet into the Chop House. It gives the #Braves a 4-3 lead thru 6.
Olson, by the look on his face, didn't think he got all of it.
#Braves manager Walt Weiss said “maybe there’s a chance” catcher Drake Baldwin comes back from his injury during the next home stand, which is June 16-21.
“That’s within reason.”
