At the recent #GoogleCloudNext25, @GoogleCloud unveiled a powerful new suite of #AIAgent tools for #healthcare, aiming to move beyond basic chatbots to intelligent agents that can automate complex workflows and drive real clinical impact. The latest updates to #VertexAI and #Agentspace include a gallery of prebuilt agents—like a Deep Research Agent that synthesizes complex data sets—and new protocols allowing agents to collaborate across fragmented hospital IT systems.

Highmark Health is already seeing results, rolling out Vertex-powered agents to 14,000 employees for call centers, prior authorizations, and ambient documentation. As Richard Clarke, Highmark’s chief data officer, shared, more than 14,000 of Highmark’s employees regularly use generative AI products for internal work, like software development, prior authorization requests and managing its call center. Hackensack Meridian Health is using Google AI for nurse agents, call center automation, and document summarization, with Chief AI Officer Sameer Sethi envisions agents managing a complex scheduling situation, where a patient needs an appointment with an orthopedic doctor, a ride to the office, an available wheelchair and assistance picking up medications.

Agents can handle more complex, multi-step tasks compared with earlier iterations of AI tools, like chatbots."
