Prime Minister @andyburnham and Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband : how much longer will Britain remain silent?
For three years the father of my two sons, and Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has been brutally penalised by his political opponents, in a personal vendetta by Army Chief, Asim Munir, which according to the UN, amounts to torture and which is now taking a potentially fatal toll on his physical and mental health.
He has endured 3 years of solitary confinement. For nearly ten months now his family has been denied contact with him. He has been deprived of the most basic human contact, denied access to books, lawyers and doctors.
The international human-rights standards are unequivocal. Under the UN’s Nelson Mandela Rules, solitary confinement lasting more than 15 consecutive days is prohibited and amounts to torture.
He has endured this treatment not for 15 days, but for three years.
Pakistan’s own Supreme Court has now intervened: ordering comprehensive medical treatment, access to his personal doctor, regular family visits and twice-weekly calls with his sons.
Yet those orders are being defied.
This is no longer simply a Pakistani political matter. It is a human-rights emergency.
He has deep and lifelong ties to Britain. He studied at Oxford University, captained Oxford University cricket and spent years playing county cricket in England. His relationship with this country stretches back more than half a century. His charitable activities were internationally recognised, and include building the only free cancer hospital in Pakistan as well as a university.
His sons, my two boys, Sulaiman and Kasim, are British citizens. They have been forced to watch their father’s health decline from thousands of miles away, prevented from visiting him, denied visas, publicly threatened by government officials with arrest themselves, and even denied court-mandated regular phone calls.
I have repeatedly appealed to the UK government to intervene. Purported attempts at back channelling have evidently failed. The previous Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy informed me in writing that Britain would not intervene if my sons, British citizens, are arrested when they travel to Pakistan to visit their father.
@FCDOGovUK: Britain must now speak out publicly and unequivocally. Demand that Pakistan comply with its own Supreme Court; restore Imran Khan’s medical access, his right to see his family, end his prolonged isolation and uphold his fundamental human rights.
Pakistan is a Commonwealth country. Britain has a long and proud tradition of standing against arbitrary detention, inhumane treatment and the denial of fundamental rights. Those principles mean very little if we invoke them only selectively and neglect them when inconvenient.
This an appeal to the new Burnham government to please now do the right thing.
Four cruise missiles launched from Iran were detected toward various areas across the country. Three were successfully engaged over the country’s territorial waters, while one fell in the sea.
The Ministry of Defense affirmed that the sounds heard in different parts of the country are a result of air defence systems engaging threats.
The Ministry urged the public to obtain information from official sources and comply with all public safety procedures when warning messages are issued to the public.

Anyone living and working in the
UAE Pakistani, Indian, Arab, Muslim,
or whoever who celebrates Iranian
Regime aggression against this country
deserves to have their visa revoked.
No exceptions ..
In light of the current political tensions in the GCC and the wider Middle East, I would like to make the following statement:
Under the leadership of HH Sheikh @MohamedBinZayed, and @HHShkMohd, we have nothing to fear.
History has taught us that the #UAE consistently overcomes challenges and emerges stronger. We witnessed this during the global financial crisis in 2008, during COVID-19, and again following the April 2024 storm widely known as the ‘Hadeer Storm’. With the guidance of our leadership, this time will be no different.
The UAE will continue to move forward with resilience and confidence. The strength of the UAE’s economic fundamentals, particularly in the real estate sector, continues to be reflected in record market performance. According to Dubai REST, #Dubai recorded AED 246.12 billion in real estate transactions in Q1 2026, compared with AED 142.7 billion in Q1 2025, representing a 72.46% year-on-year increase.
These figures clearly demonstrate that despite political tensions across the region, the fundamentals of Dubai’s real estate market remain exceptionally strong. Demand continues to grow, and investor confidence in Dubai remains robust, reinforcing the emirate’s position as one of the world’s most attractive investment destinations.
We have full confidence in our leadership and their vision, and we are certain that we will emerge stronger.

في يوم باكستان 2026.. برج خليفة يرفع علم باكستان 🇵🇰 عالياً
الشعب الباكستاني يستحق هاللحظة، والإمارات دايماً تكرم أصحابها.
Burj Khalifa today: Pakistan’s flag lighting up the night! 🇵🇰
No empty words—just real pride shining on the world’s tallest icon.
The Pakistani nation earns this honor. UAE stands tall with you.
Yesterday I spoke to my father. He asked me to relay the following message:
“The judges in this country should be ashamed of themselves. Time and time again we have gone to the judiciary. But they have sold their souls for their paid personal privileges. They have sold their integrity. They know they cannot break me, so they turn to my wife. How they can allow this inhumane treatment to Bushra BiBi, simply to blackmail me. She spends 24 hours a day in isolation, except for 30 minutes with me per week - and even that is often ignored. It is unislamic to harm women, children and the elderly - and their motives are plain and clear. The judges are responsible for the justice in a society. They should be ashamed of themselves.”
We all know that the reason you are refusing their visas and recommending they travel on NICOP cards (which they don’t have presently) is because that way they will have no British protection if you choose to arrest them on arrival.
My sons Sulaiman & @kasim_khan_1999 applied for visas in January (again… ) to allow them to visit their father @ImranKhanPTI in Pakistan. The Pakistan consulate states that online visa processing normally takes 7–10 working days. It has now been 60 days. This despite the public promise that they could safely travel there to see their father after 4 years, made by both Defence Minister @khawajaMAsif to @mehdirhasan & PM spokesperson @mosharrafzaidi to @SkyYaldaHakim
Meanwhile, they are not allowed to speak to him on the phone, nor send him a letter. They haven’t seen him since 2022 after he was shot in an assassination attempt.
This is an appeal directly to Pakisan’s PM @CMShehbaz to please allow Imran Khan’s two sons to see their father asap, particularly since, by all accounts, his health is in decline.
Just came back from Al Barsha, it was just as crowded as a regular Saturday. Can Western media outlets talk to real people who live here instead of people who’ve spent 15 min here and have ran back because they don’t have actual lives they’ve built here? #Dubai
Dubai & UAE 🇦🇪 is still a beacon of Hope for millions of young immigrants in a neighborhood of corrupt regimes which are always at war with one another.
These people have built a life in UAE.
kingdom of Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 jointly with United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪 should develop a New canal and a New port in Oman 🇴🇲 immediately after the war. Huge upside for the GCC countries. This opens opportunities to not only develop the region climate wise but also new cities along the Canal.
