"The largest and best organized-for-extraction economy in the region is now firmly in the grip of a very determined set of interchangeable oligarchs. Their mission in life will be to do what oligarchs do: get richer."

Just last evening we were talking about the terrible living conditions of our kids in boarding schools: overcrowded dorms, 1300 students served by 11 toilets, and adults are still talking about the benefits of boarding schools.
Kenya is a walking nightmare.
1/8. The GMO debate has quickly deteriorated into "but GMO are already here, what's wrong with lifting a ban?". Such analyses are not just reductive, but they intend to confuse us on the real issue at stake which is the racist ideologies of the corporates behind food biotech
7/8. KE is food insecure due to neoliberal food policies & land hoarding by the elite, not food species. You seriously think that GoK chartalans who've been overseeing the mass deaths of cattle in northern counties are lifting a ban on GMO beef to boost food security? Lol.
@DoctorReign This pervasive thinking means the populace want to quickly classify medics as money oriented once they demand anything they think they can’t afford out of pocket, yet by its very nature no one should ever pay for health out of pocket.
@DrAhmedKalebi@Mwirigi Is there a reason for insisting on not black?
It's only now that I understand that grey hair is a signal that "life is complicated, and this person is a walking library who can explain it."
These days when I see greys I feel like asking the person "tell me a story." ☺️
I am happy to shut up and let you guys run your country the way you want, but I have children! Why condemn our beautiful country to GMO‘s? Food security is not just about quantity, but more importantly quality. Stop this and let our children thank us later.
