Often we pursue relationship with the Lord in hopes of reward (answered prayers or Heaven), but the reward is the relationship. It’s prayers to a God you know rather than an empty void. It’s eternity with Him not just a ticket through the gate.
He is the map and the treasure.
Holiness isn’t an impossible destination. It is a continual process. We are being set apart. God took the pressure off when we acquired the holiness of Jesus through grace. So now our pursuit isn’t in vain and isn’t a means of purchase. Salvation has already been paid and given.
Holiness has always seemed unobtainable to me. In many ways it is but God says on repeat to be holy because He is holy. Striving in Him to be what is impossible without Him both honors and pleases Him.
He is the means and the end; the map and the treasure.
I think believers have an opportunity to speak volumes to our communities if we would respond to Thanksgiving with the same ferocity as cultural tensions. May we praise God with grateful hearts for His many blessings during a year that has felt cursed. All my hope is in Jesus.
I know the influence politics have on the lives of American Christians is at an all-time high right now. But, I just want to remind you that your faith, Christianity, and salvation are so much bigger than politics. Please don’t treat them equally.
