Alberta is on track for a sixth consecutive surplus, and the Heritage Fund is on pace to hit $35 billion in 2027.

Not only did we balance the budget in 2025-26, but we are now also on track for a $2 billion surplus in 2026-27.

Our economy is growing faster than forecast and faster than most of the country, and we’re attracting more and more investment.

Thank you to Minister Jason Nixon @JasonNixonAB and his team for the discipline and hard work behind these numbers. Alberta has been given a great opportunity to finish the year strong.

In Nashville I met with Tennessee’s Commissioner of Tourist Development @TNVacation, the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce @nashchamber
and the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation @visitmusiccity
to find out how Alberta can follow in their footsteps to create “Nashville North”.

Canadians have long been the largest group of international visitors to this city but the tariff fight is having an impact. Fewer visitors, fewer flights, fewer dollars moving in either direction. That’s why the US tourism industry has been one of the greatest advocates for resolving the dispute.

My message to all Americans is the same wherever I go. Our two nations must get back to the table and negotiate in good faith. Every week without a deal costs workers and businesses in both our countries.

My sincere thanks to Alberta’s Senior Representative to the United States, Nathan Cooper, for continuing to build these relationships south of the border and advocated for Alberta’s interests.

Great turnout in Okotoks last night. Thank you to MLA RJ Sigurdson @RjSigurdson for hosting and to the Highwood UCP Constituency Association for putting it together.

Okotoks is growing fast and this government is building for it. A new high school with room for more than 1,000 students. A new K-9 replacement school in D’Arcy for over 800 more. Water infrastructure upgrades to keep up with new communities.

RJ has been a relentless advocate for this riding. As Minister of Affordability and Utilities he is doing the same work for families across the province.

I spoke with our American friends through CNBC this morning.

My message: this continent has everything it needs to achieve North American security and independence in energy, critical minerals and the supply chains both our economies run on. Canada has the resources. The United States has the refining and manufacturing capacity to add two or three times their value and export those products around the world. That partnership adds millions of jobs to the U.S. economy and strengthens American trade surpluses with other countries.

Every day we spend arguing about tariffs is a day we hand ground to countries that are not our allies. Neither nation can afford the job losses and increased consumer costs of continuing the fight on trade.

Let’s get back to the negotiating table, get to a deal and move forward.

Welcome back to school!

Today students return to class in many parts of Alberta, including right here in Calgary-Shaw!

Our government continues to build record amounts of new schools in neighbourhoods just like yours and hiring thousands of new teachers and educational assistants. I know Mike Derry @mike_derry, who is a father of 2 in our schools right now, will be an incredible advocate the continue ensuring we invest in education and our children’s future.

Almost 90,000 new students have entered Alberta schools in the past four years. That is the pressure our classrooms have been under, and this is our answer.

On September 1, 1905, the Alberta Act came into law, officially establishing the province of Alberta.

Today, 121 years later, we celebrate the people, stories and traditions that have helped make Alberta the most prosperous and dynamic province in all of Canada.

Generations of Albertans from many backgrounds have helped build our province through hard work, innovation and a shared belief in freedom. Their legacy can be seen in the strong communities, thriving industries and quality of life we enjoy today.

Alberta Day is a celebration of that legacy as well as our richhistory, heritage and community spirit. It is also a chance to recognize the values that unite us, take pride in the role Alberta has played in Canada’s success and look ahead to the opportunities before us.

From the energy that powers our nation, to the food that feeds the world, to the entrepreneurs, workers and innovators who drive our economy forward, Alberta has always punched above its weight. We are a province of builders, dreamers and doers who refuse to settle for anything less than the best.

With boundless opportunity, breathtaking landscapes and an independent spirit unlike anywhere else, Alberta is not just a great place to live, it is the greatest province in the greatest country in the world.

This Alberta Day, let us reflect on the many blessings we have here and appreciate what it means to call this incredible province home.

Two backyard gatherings in Calgary to speak directly with neighbours. Thank you to Conner and Catherine for organizing.

We talked about a lot of issues, but reasonable immigration came up in both.

Alberta’s population has grown by more than 600,000 people in five years. Albertans feel it every time they look for a family doctor or a spot in their kid’s school.

Several of the referendum questions in October address immigration. The support I heard for Alberta taking greater control over immigration this afternoon was strong and I hope to get a strong mandate from all Albertans on these issues in October.

For every $1 of taxes a guest worker generates, taxpayers are covering $10 in services. This is not sustainable.

Albertans have paid into their schools, hospitals and services their whole lives. It should be there for them when they need it.

That is why Albertans are backing our referendum questions on changes to immigration. This poll shows a supermajority now want Alberta setting its own immigration levels and ensuring that guest workers contribute to the costs they incur in our health care and education systems.

Just as any Albertan would expect if they were a guest in another country.

I joined Fox Business this morning to advocate for a tariff free relationship, and for both federal governments to get back to the negotiating table.

My message to Americans is clear: tariffs and counter tariffs increase costs, disrupt supply chains, put pressure on businesses and workers, and impact families in both countries.

The U.S. benefits greatly from free trade with Canada because their refineries and businesses take our raw resource exports, such as energy, add two or three times their value through processing and manufacturing, and then export those value-added products around the world. This adds millions of jobs to the U.S. economy. It also enhances U.S. trade surpluses with other countries.

It’s an amazingly beneficial trading relationship for both countries that we should be building - not breaking.

Let’s get back to the negotiating table, finalize a deal & move forward as friendly neighbours and allies again.
