Call of My Life being the No. 1 Nollywood film in its 11th weekend is simply surreal.

Its run from a ₦76.9M opening to ₦817.7M is almost unheard of for a non December release, delivering a remarkable 10.6x multiplier.

Only two other Nollywood films have achieved a 10x+ multiplier outside December: King of Boys (35.7x) and Brotherhood (10.4x).

I want to congratulate these industry titans, @funkeakindele and @toyin_abraham1 for literally breaking all records and pushing beyond every envelope to record these ground breaking successes for Nollywood.. brah, my respect for these 2 has taken a hike.

The level of commitment, strategizing, marketing and playing the game generally is on a whole different level. I knew it was kinda over ambitious of me to think I could run this whole December race © but me and my coconut head oo l've always known myself to follow my gut and do as I please.

So yea, I sacrificed my holiday to achieve an ambition. I am particularly proud of myself, my team @yfalaye @beccaashang @OtyEdo_MDE and some cast members particularly @euchariaanunobi @Real_IkOgbonna @unusualphyna @chief_femibranch who were kind enough to stay committed to the project.

We came, we pushed, made our mark and learnt our lessons. To everyone of you.. don't be afraid of making that move. What's the worst that could happen? Win or lose, we move. 2026. I fit try am again o 🤣

However, A very dirty Christmas is still showing in cinemas in the Uk and in Nigerian cinemas.. so can we now all go and watch ☺️❤️

Funke Akindele Remains in Front with Behind the Scenes

Big screens, big stars, and even bigger numbers! Funke Akindele has done it again, and this time, she did not just break records — she shattered them.

Her latest movie titled "Behind the Scenes" has officially crossed ₦2.1 billion at the Nigerian box office, making history as the first Nollywood film ever to hit the ₦2 billion mark.

The flex did not stop at home, the movie also showed modest global muscle, raking in over $111,256 in Canada and an impressive $190,249 across North America. From Lagos to Toronto, from cinemas in Abuja to theatres overseas — this movie had everyone locked in.

This big win solidifies the movie as the highest grossing Nollywood film of all time in Africa, the UK, and Ireland, makes her the first filmmaker to rank number one at the box office in Africa for three consecutive years, while also proving that Nigerian stories are going global.

Chill out.

Every successful career I’ve ever known was filled with long periods of meandering, months or even years when no one knew what would happen next.

Look at me: I started as a geology major turned failed realtor.

Like @JeffBezos, I didn’t start Netflix until I was 38. And I didn’t get into tech until I was around 33.

The first African Film Press (AFP) Critics Prize — presented at the 5th edition of the S16 Film Festival in Lagos on December 5, 2025 — goes to Nigerian filmmaker Dika Ofoma for his short film "Obi Is a Boy."

The AFP Critics Prize is now officially launched.

The next AFP Critics Prize will be presented at another African film festival on the continent. The specific festival will be announced soon.
