🚨U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a new order banning entry of citizens from 12 countries, including #Somalia, citing that the move is necessary to protect the #UnitedStates from “foreign terrorists” and other security threats.

This measure is part of a tough immigration campaign that Trump launched upon entering his second term. It also included the deportation of hundreds of Venezuelan nationals accused of having ties with pirate groups, and efforts to prevent some foreign students from enrolling in U.S. universities.

The countries affected by the full travel ban are: Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, #Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

#UPDATE: The United Nations nuclear watchdog says Iran has increased its stockpile of highly enriched, near weapons-grade uranium by 50 percent in the last three months.

🚨The Commander of the United States Africa Command (#AFRICOM), Gen. Michael Langley, has urged African countries, including #Somalia, to take on the responsibility of ensuring their own security, at a time when the U.S. is reducing the aid it has previously provided to stabilize the region.

“There are things we used to do that we might not do anymore,” Langley said on Thursday while speaking to reporters outside the African Chiefs of Defense Conference in #Nairobi.
