Organising his kinsmen into a rebellion against British imperialism in the Juba Valley, Abdirahman Mursal, a Somali Suldan, in 1917 declared "By Allah, I will not be a slave to the government."
Singing a praise for & Pedestrian Loyalty to a Sitting President/PM is to be a slave.
A country cannot be run on the basis of project-based "partnerships!" If "partnerships" & "productive" meetings & "fruutful" discussions were political & economic ideologies, Somalia would have been the most stable & the most developed country on the continent!
@HassanSMohamud
Since the introduction of "ethnic" federalism, there has been a federal minister of "Somali" descent, so, one wonders, what is the "new political weight" & "influence" that the Somali subjects have achieved?
Is this a case of colonialism creating a perverted collaborators?
I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to my brother Dr. Sultan Wali on his appointment as the Minister of Irrigation and Lowlands of Ethiopia.
While he will serve and represent the whole of Ethiopia, his appointment stands as a testament to the growing political weight and influence we have deservedly achieved, as Somali Region, in Ethiopia since Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed took office.
It’s 2026. More than a decade into devolution, and children in Wajir are still studying under trees and writing on scorching sand. This is disguising and shameful . Meanwhile, the leaders entrusted with serving them are comfortably settled in Nairobi, living in million-dollar mansions. How many more years are these children expected to wait for the bare minimum?
Nobody in the history of Kenya had made politics more "appealing" to the masses than Raila.
He was as Babafemi rightly captured, "An Enigma in Kenyan Politics!"
We honour the late Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, a once-in-a-generation leader whose uncommon courage, sacrifice and service helped shape the course of our Republic.
He is not more than the proverbial termite that hardly pushes its own weight!
He never had an actual authority either as a minister or an assistant minister. He will have none in the prison house for nations.
He remains the same caricature in the politics of one man-one party.

The #Real Meaning of #Ahmed#Shide's Move from the country's bloodlife
to the Speaker's Chair
Ahmed Shide moved from the engine room of Ethiopia’s economy to the sympolic chair of its legislature.
As #Finance#Minister, he sat at the #center of #fiscal power, #public finance and the federal #budget. He ran various financial #institutions, including the #National Bank of #Ethiopian (NBE) and 32 #commercial #banks.
As #Speaker, he now sits at the center of #Parliament—censoring questions from #MPs, hitting the hammer on the table, and moderating spineless and powerless MPs.
Quite a career transition: from controlling the machinery of money to controlling the #microphone and the #hammer. 😂
This is a move from power to irrelevance and a useless institution in Ethiopia.
So let’s not call this a #promotion.
for Ahmed shid, this looks more like a political #punishment disguised as a #prestigious appointment.

To paraphrase, Said Samatar "unhappy Somalia" waits for an approving nod from the Prime Minister of Ethiopia!
In Samatar's time, Meles was the PM. Abiy is today in his position.
In both cases, unhappy Somalia waits for the nod, a direction against itself & its existence!
#Eritrea was never a part of the #Ethiopian nation, and any narrative that treats Eritrea as a simple territory seceded from #Ethiopia misrepresents its distinct history formation as an Italian colony and nation building processes, its forced federation and subsequent military occupation, and the legitimate political and protracted armed struggle of its people to restore its full #independence……
Tonight in Addis Ababa, the leadership of the Somali Regional State hosted a dinner for Ahmed Shide, the newly elected Speaker of Ethiopia’s House of Peoples’ Representatives and the first ethnic Somali to hold the position.
On the invitation of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President Isaias Afwerki has departed to Egypt for a working visit in the early morning hours today.
During the visit, President Isaias will participate in the Summit of Heads of State on collective security, stability, and partnership.
The current Summit is a continuation of periodic forums on the wider neighborhood - the Red Sea Region, the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Gulf as well as the Nile Basin - conducted through different platforms.
President Isaias Afwerki and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi will also discuss further enhancement of bilateral ties during the visit.
While the unfolding war & the killing of civilians is abhorrent, I have no regard for the lives of these generals. Over 20 yrs, they committed genocide in Ogaden & starved the whole population.
What is happening to them might be described as "the long hand of natural justice!"
I am alarmed and deeply concerned by reports of the possible transfer of Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede, Colonel Gebregziabher Alemseged, Colonel Tewelde Gebretensay, Mr. Isaias Tadesse, and others detained in Mekelle without charge or appearance before a court of law.
Their safety, whereabouts, and humane treatment must be guaranteed by those who detained.
Any transfer that conceals their whereabouts or places them at risk could amount to enforced disappearance, a practice the TPLF is well known to have used before, including against members of my own immediate family.
Those responsible must understand that they bear individual responsibility for any harm that comes to the detainees.
I call on the TPLF, Tigray army leaders and police commissioners to disclose where the detainees are being held, grant immediate access to the ICRC and their families, and either bring them before a court of law or release anyone held solely for their dissenting political views.
Communications cut off as fighting intensifies in northern Ethiopia.
🚨 Hundreds injured, and scores of foreign tourists are currently trapped in the historic city of Lalibela.
Among them is a UK national who spoke to the BBC’s Kalkidan Yibeltal about his experience.
C. Cruise, an officer in the UN Mission of 1960s described Moise Tshombe of DRC as "the best politician that money can buy!"
If Tshombe was in 1960s, Africa's "best" in the busine of bought politicians, @HassanSMohamud is Africa's worst politician that "money can buy in 2026!"

A. Mazrui one wrote "there may be hope in the very instability which Africa is experiencing."
In a similar case, there might be hope in the very instability which Ethiopia has been experiencing since its creation in post-WW II order.
This hope has always been decolonisation.
