Wake up Alberta!
Stop privatization of healthcare. Please do not see the people of Alberta as a commodity that can be exploited through privatization of healthcare. Nurture these wonderful people with your love and inclusion and allow them to flourish beyond our imaginations.

With COVID infections spiking again, today on #shiftpERspectives I’ll show you how to do and effective at home rapid swab for COVID-19.
Don’t forget to leave questions for me to address later this week.

Say NO to privatization of Alberta healthcare.
When a healthcare system makes profit from someone’s illness, we have forsaken our humanity and that is a sign of an ill society. We should keep healthcare as a service based practice and not transform it into a business.
“The UCP’s disruptive transformation of laboratory services in Alberta rewards a large corporation and its shareholders over the current and long-term interests of Albertans.”
https://t.co/cky21n6Ehk
While the prior UCP policy explicitly endorsed 2-tier care, the insidious creep of privatization through significantly increased private delivery, corporatization, and pushing the boundaries of what the CHA allows may be just as harmful to the public system in the long run.
@SPhillipsAB@JasonCoppingAB Previous governments invested millions in recruiting and retaining physicians - particularly rural dr. UCP’s war on healthcare workers has squandered that investment. Everyone needs a primary care Dr. It is good for people and HC system. If you can’t find one write your MLA.
Update on Physician supply in Alberta:
Approximate numbers Oct 2020 vs Oct 2021:
Total family docs accepting new patients: 800 vs 580 = 28% drop
Calgary 300 vs 245 = 18% drop
Edmonton 150 vs 85 = 43% drop
Regional (MH, Leth, RD, Airdrie, GP, FM)= 6x15 = 90 vs 30 = 67% drop
The UCP passed the legislative framework to allow corporations to bill our govt for HC delivery prior to covid. This failed government cannot be trusted to make decisions on HC. @Lorian_H@luanne_metz#abhealth @shazmamithani
So here we go folks. Under the cover of a UCP induced crisis, they will now increase Corp delivery of our HC. We once again ask Minister Copping to share the evidence on which he is making any such decisions.
The last year and a half have taken a tremendous toll on Albertans, healthcare providers and our healthcare system.
The most critical need, and my first and immediate priority, is building our health system capacity. 1/8
Kenney would love to be Lougheed, and he'd love for you to give him that chance. Given his record, it's probably more likely he'd end up accidentally gifting the oil sands to PEI in exchange for a jellyfish. But, he'd never admit it. Seriously, don't give him any excuse. Not one.
