The Ekiti State Creation Committee was established in 1994 to champion the campaign for the creation of an independent Ekiti State. Through years of dedicated advocacy and relentless efforts, the committee achieved its objective on October 1, 1996, when the military administration of General Sani Abacha officially carved Ekiti State out of the old Ondo State.
