I wholeheartedly welcome GoWB’s Interim State Budget for FY 2026–27, a people-first Budget that reflects compassion, foresight and commitment to inclusive growth.
The annual support of ₹4,000 for landless agricultural farmers is a visionary move that addresses vulnerability at its roots. The complete waiver of irrigation charges under Government Tubewells and RLI schemes will significantly reduce cultivation costs for small and marginal farmers, strengthening the backbone of our rural economy. From the Singur movement of 2006–08 to today’s Budget, @AITCofficial has stood with farmers through action.
The launch of Banglar YUBASATHI is another landmark step, extending monthly assistance of ₹1,500 for up to five years to educated youth aged 21–40, empowering them to pursue meaningful opportunities. Equally commendable is the ₹1,000 monthly enhancement for ASHA and ICDS workers, para-teachers, Shiksha Bandhu Sahayaks, Samprasarak and Mukhya Samprasarak, special educators and management staff, civic volunteers, village police and green police workers, a fitting recognition of those who serve society at the frontlines every day.
And most importantly, strengthening our commitment to empowering every woman, monthly financial assistance under Lakshmir Bhandar has been increased by ₹500, with women from the General category now set to receive ₹1,500 and SC/ST women ₹1,700 every month. This Budget restores hope, inspires confidence and charts a bold course towards Swanirbhor Bangla. My congratulations to our Maa-Mati-Manush Sarkaar for presenting a Budget that truly belongs to the people.

At least 18 labourers have been killed in a horrific explosion at an illegal coal mine in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills, a tragedy that exposes the criminal apathy of those entrusted with governance.
These were workers forced into death traps by poverty, exploitation and the complete collapse of regulatory oversight. Illegal mining does not survive without political protection, administrative silence and systemic corruption. The blood of these workers stains the hands of the ruling NPP Government in the State.
My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Those responsible, from mine operators to officials who enabled this lawless ecosystem, must be identified, prosecuted and punished.

Sebaashray 2 has been about continuity, ensuring that care does not end at the camp, but moves forward with those who need it.
Through this effort, senior citizens identified at our camps were referred for cataract surgeries and received timely care at trusted institutions.
At Renuka Eye Institute, nine elderly residents referred from the Diamond Harbour camp underwent successful cataract surgeries. Similarly, eighteen people referred from the Bishnupur camp received treatment at Drishti Eye Hospital.
For many of them, this meant regaining clear vision after years, seeing their families distinctly again, moving about independently, and returning to everyday life with renewed confidence.
Good health for every person remains our responsibility.

Because Bengal refuses to be run by @BJP4India’s remote control, they weaponised @ECISVEEP to unleash a voter-erasure pogrom under the fake banner of “SIR.”
This rigged, state-sponsored assault on democracy has already claimed 150 innocent lives and erased living citizens from the rolls by branding them “dead.”
Today at Banga Bhawan, Chanakyapuri, Delhi, Smt. @MamataOfficial and Shri @abhishekaitc met the victims of this constitutional crime, genuine voters stripped of their franchise and families shattered by fear, trauma, and cruelty.
Bengal will not surrender its democracy to BJP’s conspiracies. This war on voters will end with the defeat of those who tried to murder democracy itself.
The @ECISVEEP has abandoned its constitutional role and chosen arrogance over accountability, obedience to the BJP over loyalty to the people.
Instead of answering six formal letters from Smt. @MamataOfficial, this compromised Commission has resorted to cowardly, selective media leaks to manufacture narratives and dodge responsibility.
From Banga Bhawan, Chanakyapuri, Shri @abhishekaitc tore the mask off this farce. He exposed an institution that no longer guards democracy but survives on oxygen supplied by the BJP.
We will fight this capture of democracy until accountability is enforced and justice is restored.
Standing shoulder to shoulder with the victims of SIR, Smt. @MamataOfficial and Shri @abhishekaitc took the fight straight to Delhi, shaking the establishment and laying bare, point by point, the coordinated conspiracy of @BJP4India and the ECI.
Their stand sent a clear message: Bengal will not bow, and the rights of its people will not be trampled in silence.
