What should I propose to talk about?
In Dutch we have the expression ‘I am at the end of my Latin’ (I am exhausted). Franciscus Raphelengius literally did it in a letter of 1601 to Balthasar Moretus. He started in Latin, and halfway he switched to Dutch with the words ‘Ick ben ten eynde Latyn’ (I am out of Latin).
🌍 Our @BL_Digitisation team have been working to put 30 historical globes online and available for all on our website. There will also be an augmented reality version available via the Sketchfab app. Watch our video to find out more.

To be naughty when you’re the grandson of a printer could have special consequences. #OnThisDay in 1587 Christophe Plantin punished the 11-year-old Christophe Beys. His grandson had to report his day in Latin, and then set up the report and print it on his grandfather’s presses.
Masterpiece!
OTD 1997 ‘Map History’ was launched. Are many websites still active after 23 years? The pages for conferences, deadlines (the only such list), fellowships, map image sites and texts are regularly updated, with no delay. Please use and send information! https://t.co/jutlEruGjW
Glad to hear that another ICHC went very well. Many thanks to the Amsterdam team @ICHC2019

If you're curious about alba amicorum, our friends at @CamDigLib have digitized cartographer Abraham Ortelius's album amicorum, with lots of background information. Here is the inscription by fellow cartographer Gerhard Mercator: https://t.co/kqOvCsX0bO
II will be present at #ichc2019 in Amsterdam. On 17 July Joost Depuydt shows new research on my Utopia map & Dirk Imhof talks about the problematic sale of my Spanish atlas in the 17th century.
