@krsdrmerincmjor To me personally, it just did not have anywhere near the same level of success, financially, or culturally. Or at least its impact wasn’t quite as lasting. These movies more than quadrupled Iron lungs profit with roughly the same budget: BR-10m, IL-3m, OB-750k. No hate though!

@teelokay AI (not generative AI) is super useful for shortcutting in specific circumstances where manual labor is not a plus, but simply a time-loss, but you cant just “lets generative everything!” a movie. Thats not how it works, or ever will work. Its objectively not art at that point.
@teelokay@maywrence It’s cheaper & faster to build practical, or film on location. Studios stopped because they got LAZY. Thats not a brag, it’s creative backslide.
It takes months (in some cases years) to complete CGI work unless you’re happy with low quality slop.
@no_earthquake@moartun Clark was lost in it in one sense or another. Emotionally, mentally, physically, maybe all three. He was in there for god knows how long before Mary found him.
@SerPalazzo@Wendigoon8@mjarbo Backrooms profit is 15x the budget. AAA studios cant dream of performance like that. Theyll struggle to crack 1-2x the budget.
Monsters like Avengers Endgame barely squeaked out 6x with extended runs and a marketing campaign larger than the entire budget of the backrooms.
