Abundant Housing LA is a grassroots organization working to solve SoCal’s housing crisis by advocating for more housing at all levels of affordability. Join us!
📢🎉🥳Today, the Abundant Housing LA team and volunteers showed UP for public comment at the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) in support of accurate mapping for SB 79 geography!!! Even after facing down anti-housing opposition, SCAG’s Regional Council approved the staff recommendation on a 39-4 vote. This is a big step toward progress. AHLA hopes to see SCAG fully update their Transit Oriented Development Map for future housing development to go up near many train and bus rapid transit stations! 👷🏗️

History is being made today as SB 79 goes into effect! This landmark bill, cosponsored by Abundant Housing LA, eliminates apartment bans near high capacity transit stations in California’s major urban areas, including Greater LA. Here in LA County, over 50 cities will benefit from SB 79, and we’re working hard to make sure those cities follow the law and implement at a high level of quality. Join our mailing list to get involved in SB 79 implementation in YOUR community!

We need your help to stop poorly designed taxes from blocking housing development, and saving critical funding for affordable housing! Measure ULA isn’t perfect but the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Protection Act (HJTPA) would wipe out both the good and the bad along with other taxes like Measure A that supports funding homeless services throughout LA County.
Both the issues with Measure ULA and the threat of HJTPA can be solved by supporting AB 736 (Gonzalez) which aims to fix these poorly designed taxes that has impacted new housing developments. Read the graphics to learn how it works!
We need your help to urge your representatives to back AB 736 and create long overdue tax reform. Use the link in our bios to find a guide on how to find your Senator/Assemblymember along with a script on what to say when you call to support AB 736. We’ve also created an advocacy form to make it easy to sign on and send a letter of support to your representative!

Powered by volunteers 💪
At the end of May, Abundant Housing LA members joined our staff in Sacramento to meet with the LA delegation and advocate for bold housing solutions that match the scale of California’s housing crisis. We urged support for key state bills that will:
🏘️ streamline housing production
🔑 create more pathways to homeownership
🏡 spur missing middle housing
…and build more affordable, inclusive communities across LA County and beyond.
Big thanks to every volunteer who took time to fly in, show up, speak out, and push for a California where more people can afford to live and thrive.
