@KenToerner@NutritionMadeS3 Honest researchers would compare lifestyle interventions + vegan diet with same lifestyle interventions and omnivorous rich in vegetables. Is it avoiding animal products or increasing vegetables that is protective? This research doe not prove a vegan diet is best.
@sguyenet The intervention would be even more powerful if magnesium was included. The Sodium potassium pump which uses up 20% of resting energy is magnesium dependent. Salts with both potassium and magnesium have been shown to be amazingly effective
@ElieJarrougeMD Raised BP is magnesium deficiency. Mg is 'natures calcium channel blocker.' Prevents increased BP from excessive dietary calcium intake. The sodium-potassium pump also depends on Mg to function. Low Mg = higher intracellular Ca and low intracellular potassium = high BP.
@fperrywilson Pity so many commentators on nutritional research are ill-educated in the fundamentals of nutrition. RCTs can test standalone interventions but nutrients are not drugs, but interactive and interdependent on 40 or so other nutrients. RCTs cannot control for so many variables.
Its ultra-processed food that kills us prematurely, not animal protein. Still believe in plant based burgers? No food could be more heavily processed

@drjasonfung ...only remaining and rarely addressed problem with fasting that I see is that none of the studies address what people eat in the periods they do eat!
"I find every patient I see, everywhere, vividly alive, interesting and rewarding: I have never seen a patient who didn't teach me something new, or stir in me new feelings and new trains of thought."

@ifixhearts ....the healthcare system is broken, and so badly now that its hard to know where to start to fix it. All we can do is encourage individual responsibility to pursue a healthy lifestyle - nutritious food, regular exercise.
@Mangan150 ....that's because they have been led to believe that they don't need to put any personal effort into maintaining their health. Drugs or surgery will cure whatever ails they.ow do we reverse that misconception?
