The balafon is a gourd-resonated xylophone associated with the Mandé peoples of West Africa. Bassidi Koné and his cousin Kalifa Koné have carried on their family’s tradition of balafon performance since 2005. Here they are playing in their hometown of Bamako, Mali in 2015.
