Khaenri’ahn eyes and the Tsaritsa’s son’s eyes 👀 (Small rambling ahead)
We have Dainsleif and the early established, let’s say, “standard” pure-blooded Khaenri’ahn eye, which is also seen in pure-blooded NPCs (like Caribert, Halfdan, Guthred, etc)
Then there are the variations!
Rerir’s eyes pre-cataclysm are… whatever the hell is going on there 😭 His eyes are very distinct, there’s a lot going on ngl, they look very different from the confirmed pure-blooded Khaenri’ahns.
Vedrfolnir’s keep the same general shape, except they’re white, presumably following his transcendence.
Pierro’s are different again, with what looks more like a star without the usual outline. I’d almost suspect he was half-blooded but we have Direidyth, which brings me:
We have the half-bloods. Direidyth still has a very recognisable Khaenri’ahn star but a little less sharp on the edges, while Kaeya’s are probably the strangest of the lot, much smaller, lacking the outline, and almost looking like literal half the star blending into a normal pupil. ALMOST.
Finally, the Tsaritsa’s son. His pupils are actually pretty similar in shape to the “standard” Khaenri’ahn, just larger, which ngl fits a child. The white-ish colouring is interesting too, and that could simply come from the Tsaritsa herself since her eyes are also pale.
What I’m seeing here is we’ve already seen enough variation among confirmed Khaenri’ahns that treating Dainsleif’s eyes (or the “standard”) as the only template doesn’t work. 😭
Genuinely though, I don’t know why Hoyo would give him eyes that immediately evoke Khaenri’ah if there wasn’t some connection there. Whether that’s through his father or a shared origin even if not directly from THE Kingdom of Khaenri’ah. It certainly does feel intentional.
Thoughts?
( it's like he gets reanimated when kaeya returns. he nods and holds up the drink before he takes a sip.
pauses.
takes another sip. )
...i understand its name now.
[ kaeya is back before long, setting dainsleif's drink in front of him and sinking back into her chair to sip at hers. ]
tell me how you like it, it's a favorite of mine.
