Indian national Smit Machchhar was captain of the Flydubai flight forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, according to diplomatic sources in Riyadh cited by CNN-News18

Machchhar, who joined Flydubai in 2022 after nearly a decade with SpiceJet, was reportedly injured during the cockpit confrontation but regained control of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 and brought it down safely in Tabuk with around 174 passengers on board
