This engine is named after Karen Harrison, the first woman in Britain to work as a mainline train driver.
It’s an honour to be driving her namesake today ❤️
Buses give everyone freedom and connection, but for disabled people barriers like missing ramps and lack of audio announcements create barriers to us travelling.
We’re proud to support @BusUsersUK#CatchTheBusMonth🚍🧡

#CatchTheBusMonth 2025 launched by Bus Users UK and @TransportForWM - celebrating buses and highlighting the need for continued investment

71% of disabled people want to use more sustainable modes of transport, but face needless barriers such as overcrowding, missing announcements and a lack of lifts. Public transport must be accessible, so we can all make choices about how to travel.
We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Tom Jones, a WWII veteran, who died peacefully aged 103.
Tom served in the Far East in 1942, in extremely tough conditions, before returning home to work as a bus and tanker driver.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
We’re delighted to announce the appointment of
@LydiaBusUsers as our new CEO when @BusUsersClaire retires on 13 October 2025. Like Claire, Lydia is already a powerful force behind our mission - to improve access to transport https://t.co/P33VcklNRs
Today is Bereaved Parents Day.
But instead of focusing on my own grief, I choose to celebrate the achievements of my now only child Miles.
He has carried the weight of loss with quiet strength and determination. From deferring university to be with his sister Charlotte during her illness, to graduating with a First, earning a Master's from Cambridge, and becoming a fully qualified History teacher, his journey has been anything but easy, but he has never stopped moving forward.
I will always grieve the loss of my daughter. But today, I honour the strength, resilience, and compassion of the son who walks beside me.
Forever a mother of two.
