Following the work @Southern_NHSFT, @SolentNHSTrust and local commissioners @portsmouthCCG, @NHSSEHantsCCG & @NHSFGCCG are doing to improve local MH services.
After months of hard work, all the reports from the #accessmentalhealth project in Portsmouth and SE Hants were reviewed by senior managers and decisions on a way forward presented to a group of carers and patients. We're delighted to share the results: https://t.co/94xtadl4b6
So how will orgs spread the word about changes in the crisis service, and change the (sometimes negative) perception? ‘The proof will be in the delivery, when people in crisis can get an answer or a response at any time of day or night. When we can all see that, it’s working.’
These are all the reports coming out of the weeks of data collection, observations, and workshops so far. A huge amount of intelligence and feedback that will help us make the right changes for the future. #accessmentalhealth
‘We can see the commitment, through the workshops and spending all this time deciding what’s going to happens, it shows us how important it is, and that’s brilliant’ Patient Leigh speaking about her feelings on the next stage of the project to improve access to MH services
The final afternoon! After much deliberation there is an agreed way forward, and the managers here this week are now presenting that back to some of the patients, carers and family members involved in the project #accessmentalhealth
Crucial discussions taking place at today’s workshop. Senior leaders across organisations agreeing improvements to make MH crisis services better for people who need them - based on detailed team observations and outputs from the recent workshops.
@AccessMH_PSEH Day 2, detailed discussion between Operational Managers, planning how to create better Crisis services in both @Southern_NHSFT and @SolentNHSTrust
A lot of debate in the room about what the best product is - should there be a single number for accessing mental health services (non crisis)? What’s practical within our system? One point is vehemently agreed however 👇🏻 the patient’s perception is key #accessmentalhealth
First day of our workshop underway - we have commissioners and senior leaders all reviewing the data and proposals. Huge commitment in the room, and there’s a lot to get through! @Southern_NHSFT @SolentNHSTrust@portsmouthtoday@hantsconnect @portsmouthCCG @NHSSEHantsCCG
Next week is a big one! After four weeks of intensive work with patients, carers, families and staff, their recommendations for improving access to community mental health will be heard. We’ll be tweeting updates! #accessmentalhealth@SolentNHSTrust @portsmouthCCG @NHSSEHantsCCG
Next week sees the final stage in one of our key #nhstransformation projects - improving access to community mental health care in Portsmouth & SE Hants. Commissioners and senior leaders will come together to hear proposals and make decisions and commitments - watch this space!
Our first tweet! 👏🏻Join us as we tell the story of how we are working to transform our services and become more efficient and effective. We want to improve our processes and quality, and there's a lot going on, so stay tuned! #nhstransformation#qualityimprovement
From this, we can then agree our priorities and an implementation plan, which we will share through these channels with you all later this summer. Thank you!
The next step is to make sure all your suggestions are recorded and themed, before we then present the current state analysis and the collaboratively produced ‘future design’ to our commissioners and senior managers.
Our fourth and final #accessmentalhealth workshop concluded yesterday and we wanted to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has attended a workshop and contributed their ideas, either directly or as a ‘fringe participant’.
After working through the challenges of working and integrating with external agencies and primary/physical health services too, the group is looking at a plan of action for the next 6 weeks; how we keep people involved and bring others in #accessmentalhealth
Today is the second and final day of this week’s workshop, and we’re looking at the communication challenges between frontline staff, support teams (HR, IT etc), commissioners, 111, 999, and the police #accessmentalhealth
After lunch, our #accessmentalhealth delegates discussed how we should involve and communicate with patients, carers, staff and GPs. Find out what they said by reading our daily summary on our website later this afternoon: https://t.co/f63Xe1cS8Q
#accessmentalhealth attendees were also asked to consider how much history should be included in future communications about this project. Should we be including details of Southern Health’s past issues and/or focusing on the future of services? Some really good points made...
Ryan Hadfield is a team leader for 111. He explained why he's involved in the #accessmentalhealth workshops: "I wanted to understand more about the direction that mental health services are heading, where we could signpost patients and what we could offer as a '1st port of call'
