Despite the nudity, the pool scene never feels like fanservice. It’s two teenagers who were robbed of a normal childhood, finally getting to experience a small piece of it together. For just a little while, they weren’t weapons or pawns. They could just be Denji and Reze.
@OfficialLampy I absolutely agree. It’s only overshadowed because Iris Out was like the most viral song in Japan ever. It’s good but Jane Doe is a masterpiece imo
“JANE DOE” is a perfect song for Reze, the girl no one truly knew. Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada captured Denji and Reze with lines like, “I couldn’t help but dream a bit” and “Let’s fill the world with mistakes.” It reflects how beautifully tragic their brief time together was.
@TeoZian Here’s extremely good at invoking emotion. The cast is super eccentric, but he somehow manages to make you sympathize with them in a short time.
@TeoZian Right, in Reze Arc a lot of her characters is conveyed through expressions. Even in my writing I always try to emphasize expressions to give that nice cinematic flare.
And yeah your paneling is real good so I imagine it takes a ton of work. Is it a complicated sequence?
@Saveplayto It’s a magical experience sitting in the theater and listening to it with the beautiful images of water as the credits role. I too wish I could experience it again
@you932510 Woah!!! I’ve never known this. I’m aware of the shattered glass line but didn’t know the visual was reflected in the album cover. I actually own the vinyl too and never noticed. Kenshi Yonezu really is an amazing artist!
@handd_craftedd I too love the imagery of her and broken glass. You hit the nail on the head but I think it also deals with her sort of shattered and broken identity
@Saveplayto I know Iris Out was the bigger hit and I love that song, but Jane Doe is the one I found myself coming back to the most and listening to renditions of all the time. It has an intoxicating melody
@LinkAnd0606 It’s sad when he sings from Denji’s POV and keeps asking where she is 😭 Twice Reze is within just feet of him at the end of her arc and the final arc and he never knows
