PETITION: Restore $3 Million in the NJ Budget for Centers for Independent Living!
The proposed elimination of the $3 million state budget line item threatens:
- Access to critical, community-based supports
- Independence for people with disabilities
- Stability of NJ services
ACI consumers are building real-world shopping skills through a fun, interactive game! Participants search for items, compare prices, manage budgets, and make informed purchasing decisions while gaining confidence and independence.
ACI consumer, Louis, has been volunteering at the Aim Uniform in Edison, where he is actively engaged in folding and organizing shirts on the shelves. Louis volunteers at the store once a week and has been doing an outstanding job!
SURVEY: Digital Accessibility
ACI is gathering information from people with disabilities, family members, caregivers, and professionals regarding accessibility barriers encountered when using websites, mobile applications, online forms, and other digital services.

Earlier this week, ACI and Best Life Ever participants and volunteers attended a Food Truck Festival hosted by our building management team. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with great food, music, a photo booth, and local vendors featuring honey, fresh flowers, and much more.

Doug Aumuck, an historian Resource Interpretive Specialist at the Arts Institute of Middlesex County, returns to ACI next Wednesday for an informative and interactive talk on medicine during our nation's fight for independence.

ACI had its second annual Mock Interview Day. Consumers had mock job interviews with staff members that they did not know. The consumers brought their resumes, dressed to impress, and sent thank you letters to their interviewers following the event.

On June 1st, the NJ Senate Transportation Committee passed S-3786, a bll that requires Access Link and paratransit services throughout the state to announce stops for passengers. S-3786 is sponsored by Senator Angela Mc Knight.

Also on June 1st, the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee passed A-2130, which establishes two 15 member Passenger Advisory Committees (one in North Jersey and one in South Jersey). A-2130 is also sponsored by Assemblywoman Linda Carter.
