🇺🇬 EMERGENCY FOOD RELIEF TARGETS 313,987 KARAMOJA HOUSEHOLDS

The Government has dispatched 9,419,610 kilograms of maize flour and beans to 313,987 drought-affected households across 480 parishes in Karamoja’s nine districts.

That works out to about 30 kilograms per household, although the Government has not yet explained how the ration will be divided or how long it is expected to sustain each family.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja directed officials to prevent delays, diversion and corruption during distribution.

The relief offers an immediate lifeline, but Karamoja’s recurring food crises continue to raise a deeper policy question:

When will emergency assistance be matched by sustained investment in water, irrigation, climate-smart agriculture, livestock management and household incomes?
