Moderate- NATO, NHS, His Maj. Loved the Coalition, thinks centrism is a good thing (rare species).
"We have more in common that which divides us" (Jo Cox)
@SBarrettBar No its not, the only constitutional requirement is to command the confidence of the Commons. With nominations from 379 MPs that has clearly been tested.
@BenGrahamUK Ken Clarke was a pretty good Chancellor, he was a Barrister and never been a Treasury minister but new how to make decisions, drive reform, and bequeathed an economy growing at nearly 5 per cent
@AlfieJCH@sjejsjejd Maybe not but more because of the politics- Kwarteng had been a disaster, Hammond would never serve under Johnson. Osborne has said he would serve under May as FS but she didnt like him. oh I actually forgot Nadhim Zahawi, a short tenure I know but a more recent example.
@Or_Glory_@GuidoFawkes In Statute its the Foreign Secretary who has the authority over Diplomatic Service. PM only has authority over the Home Civil Service. Possibly a constitutional anomaly that needs fixing given PM preeminent role in foreign affairs.
@KarlTurnerMP@UKLabour Giles Watling got 72 per cent in 2019. Run him again and tactically vote Tory to block Farage. (Like some Tory voters did in Makerfield)
@DPJHodges Has he consulted MPS protection command to work out if its feasible to protect him 24/7 outside of Downing Street? Operational plans and resources are predicated on PM living predominantly in No 10- which is kitted out as a secure location
@BethRigby@adamboultonTABB Jens Stoltenberg originally had 4 year term, which then got extended and extended and extended, doing 10 years in total.
Mark Rutte won 4 elections and did 14 years as Prime Minister- doubt he's going anywhere in 2028.
