For better implementation of the reading club activities, AcrossAid trains the reading mentors. It is in that vein we oriented those who replaced ones who left the club, and they tried to make aids as one of the methods used when helping learners with special educational needs.
AcrossAid met EPR Karama reading mentors. We learnt that when parents help children to grow with reading culture, children become competent in other lessons. Parents were encouraged to make and use teaching aids to enable children to understand stories well.

Every child deserves help with reading. When a child is cared for and given time to read, he becomes a fluent reader. Remember, a child should read at least two storybooks in a week.
Any parent who is willing, would help children to read their mother tongue well. This makes the child eager to read and do different research using the books he/she reads that are at his/her level.

Children like to read. Children need to read at least storybooks appropriate to their age. If they regularly practise this they may read 120 books in one year. In order to help their teachers, parents should facilitate children's reading activities after school.
Parents of EPR Karama church help all children to read fluently. Parents use levelled children's books. Let's encourage them by upgrading their literacy skills and providing enough materials.
