@dzehtsiarou @LivUni Many many congratulations!! You are one of the most hard working academics I know and your publication record speaks for itself. Your promotion is long overdue. It is a great end to the year. All the very best for many successful years to come...
This week I conducted a two-day specialist training programme on #whistleblowing for the Internal Control Department of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). The training was supported by the European Union Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine.
@WB_UK@Gabriel_Pogrund I agree it could be clearer on this but there is scope to rectify/strengthen this in national legislation provided that there is a strong push by civil society/ subject matter experts over the next two years
@WB_UK@Gabriel_Pogrund Biggest challenges is that only protection against NDAs is in s.43J PIDA. Not enough people know about it. Beyond that there is there is a strong body of jurisprudence in confidence/ privacy cases but you need expertise to locate these. EU Directive is much stronger on this.
New G20 High Level Principles on #Whistleblowing: "G20 countries should consider providing for effective, proportionate and dissuasive sanctions for those who retaliate against whistleblowers" UK Whistleblowers deserve better than PIDA https://t.co/fXZ0x8KfrY

Check out WIN's latest guest blog from @ACSavage on #whistleblowing in the military! Based on a talk he delivered at @EuroIsme conference in Vienna, Dr. Savage explores the complexities & the need to clearly protect military #whistleblowers https://t.co/TYpiF4sS9y
Excellent start to this year’s @EuroIsme conference with Ashley Savage exploring the issues and implications of whistleblower protection in the military
Congratulations to all of the civil society organisations who worked so hard for an effective EU Directive to protect #whistleblowers. This will result in a new era of national laws recognising the important role of recipients in protecting whistleblowers AND handling concerns
"It is vital that EU #whistleblower legislation makes it easier [not harder!] for citizens to come forward & report, without fear of negative repercussions for their career, economic status or private life." https://t.co/UmG3UxZQzZ
Well at least the UK is on the right side of this one! "The UK has concerns about the proportionality of this measure, and has indicated its preference for providing #whistleblowers a choice of reporting channels to support their disclosure" https://t.co/9p0rgySBpj
Mandatory internal reporting runs contrary to the ECtHR jurisprudence and natural instinct of citizens to report directly to authorities. This disproportionate restriction of workers' art.10 rights would undermine the ability of authorities to prevent harm #whistleEU
