Ropecon was nice, but I only attended today. The trench pilgrim costume was very sweaty and hot. I got my fanboy moment and a picture with the man Mike Franchina himself! Was super cool. Now to wind down before leaving for Drachenfest in Germany.

Likely the final trench crusade cosplay update: just finished painting the shield. I mixed orthodox icon art, Trench Crusade and the finnish legend of St. Henry, who got killed by Lalli on the frozen lake Köyliönjärvi.

The text is an adaptation of the "Death poem of St. Henry".

Pilgrim update from the trench: the project nears it's end: the shield needs a big martyr icon art piece and some items need some artificial wear. Maybe some crosses etc hanging here and there.

Gonna be sweaty to wear this.

Trench crusade cosplay update: padding and a chin strap attached. The helmet sits a bit high, so I'll make lobster tail plates in the neck. Also based the shield with wood oil. Tomorrow I'll make more plates, shield straps and rust the metals with salt water. Nearing ready soon.

Thinking of rusting the metal armor parts with salt water and then sanding most of it off. Would make them look aged.

Trench Crusade cosplay update: tabard and cape done, except for some artificial aging. Cross painted with acrylics. Belt and pouches what I had laying around. Cloak needs a clasp. Next up finishing helmet and making and painting the shield. After that, bits and little details.

Small trench crusade update: finished a steel shoulder plate for my weapon arm, left arm will be covered by a shield. The plate is attached to my old "barbarian" harness I made awhile back. I'll propably make a cloak and a tabard next. Also the helmet chinstrap at some point...

Trench update: my old gambeson is just in the state to be used as pilgrim gear. Cleaned the spine plates a bit and cut up a shoulderplate. Decided to go with a trench shield and falchion instead of a rifle. Gonna paint the shield with a religious iconography. So far so good!

Big changes in life happened, but finally able to continue the Iron Capirote for my Trench Pilgrim cosplay. The helmet is kinda finished, wearing my old buhurt helmet padding with it. Deadline is Ropecon this summer, got plenty of time. To do-list in the comment below.

- The helmet needs a chinstrap or something to fasten it.
- Lobstertail neckplate is a bonus thing
- Goddamn this thing is uncomfy to wear
- Need to add hidden padding inside for extended wear
- Rest of the outfit is not a big issue, just need to find a suitable airsoft rifle

Trench crusade helmet progress! Took me awhile, life stuff got in the way. Welded fake rivets that were missing and drilled 8mm holes. Might drill them a bit larger. Won't be too tidy going on, I think it fits the theme of the helmet. Soon I'll have to start planning the innards.
