The Greek word for "sealed" relates to the wax seal on the outside of an envelope. In the ancient world, it showed ownership and certification and served as a legal signature.

God gave us the Holy Spirit as a ‘guarantee’ that He will bring us safely to our final inheritance.

At the beginning of this prayer, they address God as "Sovereign Lord". The Greek word, despotēs, is often used to describe someone with ultimate authority and unchangeable power.

May we find comfort in knowing that our prayers are heard by our Sovereign Lord.
