So the new biology spec is here! I'm hoping to post a weekly diary of where I am with my own students. If any of you are still on this platform please contribute as well along the way #newspecbiology
Principals are only paid by the DES to manage teachers, not SNAs, or anyone else. In this episode, I’m going to argue that if I were the Minister for Education I would be paying principals for managing all members of a school team. https://t.co/cDlRvahbGO #edchatie
Thrilled to begin the Advanced Diploma in Applied Employment Law at the @KingsInns. Building on my previous studies in Law & Education, I’m eager to explore how legal insight can inform & strengthen teaching, policy & leadership in schools #legalstudies#postprimary#leadership
Absolutely delighted with this year’s Biology #LeavingCert results:
📌 51 H1s
📌 100+ students H3 or higher
So proud of my students’ commitment & passion for Biology. Messages like this one from a student make it all worthwhile. Best of luck to all in the future! #ResultsDay
Finalising my new 5th Year #Biology book for 2025–26, shaped by my VCE experience in Australia. Aligned with the new LC spec, it includes SEC & VCE-style Qs to boost critical thinking and exposure to new formats. Excited for the year ahead @dublinacademy_#Leavingcertbiology#VCE
Having returned from Australia, I am grateful for my time in Melbourne, working with incredible students with diverse learning styles and challenges. The lessons I’ve learned will shape and inspire everything I bring to my new role!

After the last six months teaching in Melbourne, it’s time to head back to Dublin for the next academic year! What an incredible experience teaching here - I have certainly learned a lot which I’m looking forward to bringing back to my future classes!

Fifth year Chemistry students in @templecarrigGS were busy building a three-dimensional representation of a sodium chloride lattice this week using plasticine. #science#chemistry
When it comes to having struggling students work with literal equations, nothing beats @GraspableMath ! Check out their whiteboard: https://t.co/qmk6qCg3up #MTBoS#ITeachMath
Year 10 Science completed an experiment on DNA extraction from kiwi fruit! Great to be back in the classroom teaching, especially teaching a new curriculum (for me) in Melbourne! Looking forward to many more activities and experiments this year @AustraliaEdu@ASTA_online
A recent survey shows #teachers are the most trusted profession with #doctors coming second. This fact doesn’t seem to be highlighted in the Irish media today. Mind you, if there was a poll about the most vilified profession in 🇮🇪, teachers would probably top that too. #edchatie
LCA Maths students can now study LC Maths at OL but have a requirement to reflect on learning. I’ve decided to extend this to all Maths students using @OneNoteEDU with a check in and self-reflection on progress after each topic. Prototype below ✅
Made myself a 1 year Maths “intermediate” scheme of work. (Some additional topics). Resources are from @mathsgenie. Exam Qs and solutions linked. DM me if you want a copy. @MathsNot thoughts? 🫣 #Edutwitter#TeamMaths
