@Don_K_Williams It's the 6th year that's valuable. That allows them to earn a grad degree. Academics were at the forefront with a redshirt year and grad transfer year, now I don't know what they're about.

@JUCOadvocate This would eliminate the possibility of athletics scholarships covering graduate degrees. Terrible policy from a student-athlete centered viewpoint. Saying you're about academics and for the benefit of the SA is lip service if your policies don't reflect that.

UPDATE: The NCAA DI Cabinet will hold a further discussion on age-based eligibility later today. This idea would essentially eliminate redshirts and give college athletes five years of eligibility starting when you graduate high school or when you turn 19. Whichever is earlier.
