@C19VaxInjured According to historical sources I have read, it was not a massacre as the Assyrians claim, but rather a clear "military rebellion" against the state.
They took up arms against the state at that time, and their rebellion was suppressed militarily with British approval.

العراق وافق على اطلاق النار بعد اقل من اسبوع على بدء حرب العراق وايران، بينما ايران رفضت وقف اطلاق النار لـ 8 اعوام حتى نهاية الحرب .
صدام كان يدافع عن العراق، لا تقل حرب عبثيه، العبثي هو انت وامثالك الذي يلوم صدام لانه حرم الاجنبي الايراني من ان يدنس ارضك وشرفك.

Iraq entered the 2nd Iran War already in a financial crisis owing to former PM a-Sudani's rapid expansion of clientelistic networks to buy loyalty. Even before the war, there were delays in distribution of salaries. With the closure of the Hormuz Straits, Iraq's oil exports plummeted. Those oil exports make up almost 90% of the Iraqi budget because the corrupt politicians ruling Iraq hindered the developments of a private sector & did not work to diversify Iraq's economy.
The current crisis is unprecedented in post-2003 Iraq: Iraq needs about 8 trillion dinars monthly ($6.11 billion) to be able to pay salaries, and according to its minister of finance, it only has 3 trillion dinars ($2.29 billion) in state coffers, and thus salaries will be paid in batches, when Iraq is able to get some funds.
During the 39-day-war, Iran repeatedly bombed tankers attempting to onload oil in the Basra Port and Iraqi militiamen commanded by IRGC personnel attacked their own country's oil fields to drive up the global oil price. The Iranian-backed militias rely almost exclusively on drawing from Iraq's state budget, through being awarded state contracts, access to a preferrable dollar to Iraqi dinar rate, and tens of thousands of militiamen operating within Iranian-backed factions receive state salaries. Despite this, Iran is chocking of Iraq's oil-dependent economy.
This is further proof that the militias Iran sets up, trains and commands are not "allies" of Iran, as the Iranian-backed Axis and some analysts claim. Allies take into account each other's interests. Iran does not care that Iraqis, including those loyal to them, are suffering from an economic crisis. Similarly, the IRGC ordered Hezbollah to intervene in the 2nd Iran War, despite knowing this would severely harm Hezbollah's legitimacy within Lebanon and bring immense destruction and loss to the Lebanese Shia community, which still has not recovered from the 2024 war. Prior to this, when Hamas carried out the Oct 7th massacres and expected Iran to join the war, Iran preferred to stay on the sidelines until it was attached.
Iran did not create, arm and fund these militias to then take their interests into account or operate based on their timing.

كما انه من مصلحتهم ان اسرائيل وايران وامريكا يستنزفوا بعضهم البعض، وهذا جيد بالنسبة لهم
حتى استنزاف الامارات يخدمهم .
