Got my nails did. 🤭🥰 I've somehow never actually had a manicure before, and my bestie @VI0LETF0X took me along to Mimosa Nail Bar with her today. I tore up my fingers and nails just like two days ago putting my hood and bumper back on my car, so they did a great job! 🧡

I'm feeling accomplished about this. 🥰 My 20-year-old lil' baby Mercedes is my daily driver, and it's been damaged since last year from a deer strike. Violet and I were out on a chill nighttime cruise with the top down when a full-grown buck suddenly sprinted out in front of us.

It looked like he was going to run the opposite direction but spun around at the last second as we decelerated rapidly from 60 down to 25 mph by the time we collided. His legs got swept out from under him by my front end. He broke my bumper, dented my hood's beautiful nose, bent a fender, broke the emblem, and shattered a headlight lens before landing center-mass on my windshield, barrel rolling INCHES over our heads, before landing on the opposite side of the highway and continuing to run.

That was July of 2025, and I am happy to say she is making a full recovery. 🥹 The stalwart little machine saved our lives that night (second time this car has saved me) and I'm so happy to have her looking good again.

I disassembled my headlight to reuse the good parts, and replaced the lens and a couple bits for $30. I bought a replacement hood and bumper off a scrap car for $300. I did the bumper myself and a friend helped me with the hood. We also fixed the windshield washer squirty boys while replacing the hood. YAY!

Total cost of repairs was about $330 for the damage directly from the deer. My insurance deductible alone would have been $500. It took a year to get up the motivation but hell yeah I did it. 😎

I also just replaced the 9-year-old battery, got her back on a matching set of wheels, installed a three camera dash cam, did oil, inspection, yadda yadda. 🥰

Here she is at various stages of damage, as well as just after a bath today.

Massive thanks to Dana and TJ for help transporting and installing the big heavy stuff.

Took a break just now to finish writing what I started at the office today. I recently bought a completely offline little word processor to totally avoid social media and AI while I write lyrics for songs. It has been SO HELPFUL.

To improve my flow I'm challenging myself to write short lyrics for songs (so poems I guess 🤣) every day of October.
