Watching Sunday Best: The Untold Story of Ed Sullivan on Netflix was a revelation. I had no idea just how revolutionary Ed Sullivan truly was. He didn’t givea damn about appeasing racist white audiences he was committed to showcasing Black talent on his stage, no matter the backlash. His courage and conviction changed the course of American entertainment.

@jemelehill I use to watch his band when they’d come play in Chicago. He liked to chat it up at the bar with audience members after his set. He was genuinely a nice guy.
