To be absolutely clear:

1. Yes, it was a brief to papers.
2. No, Penny isn't blocked at the moment.
3. Mordaunt fan club can chill out - the story isn't about her, but about how to settle questions within the party.

I have no skin in the game re: Penny. She seems to be a committed conservative who might have blurted something silly out re: transwomen but since then clarified what she meant.

I trust the selection process and will personally be happy with either outcome. As long as @KemiBadenoch is happy.

This plant helps keep our drinking water safe and supplies the chemicals used in medicines, power cables, pipes and homes.

Lose that capacity and Britain becomes dependent on foreign suppliers for the essentials of our daily lives.

Britain cannot make everything. But no serious country allows energy costs and carbon taxes to destroy its last domestic source of critical materials.
