A momentous milestone was achieved as we successfully hosted the Dissemination Event for the Sashakt Gaon, Viksit Rashtra initiative, a pilot intervention designed to strengthen Village Health, #Sanitation, and #Nutrition Committees (VHSNCs) in #Bahraich district. The dissemination event served as a learning sharing platform where the VHSNC members from intervention blocks joined the platform to share the stories of change followed by the perspectives of health officials on the intervention.

The intervention successfully empowered VHSNCs to take ownership of decentralized health planning, improved fund utilization, and monitor health services effectively. The Hub & Spoke Model proved to be a sustainable approach, enhancing VHSNC functionality through mentorship and structured capacity building.

Furthermore, to the success of the intervention, Health officials (State and District NHM) emphasized the need to scale up this intervention across the entire district and other Aspirational Districts, given its success in improving community participation, health outcomes, and coordination with health facilities. The model has demonstrated its potential to reinforce NHM’s policies at the grassroots level, ensuring better service delivery and governance.

Scaling this intervention will bring us closer to ensuring equitable and accessible healthcare for all! So, Let’s join hands in making community-led health governance a reality!

Consultative Workshop: Strengthening Inter-sectoral Collaboration to Prioritize Youth in Family Planning
A consultative workshop on "Strengthening Intersectoral Collaboration to Prioritize Youth in Family Planning" was organised on March 6, 2025 at the ANM Training Centre, Shravasti by @MamtaHIMC .
The meeting was chaired by the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and attended by representatives from the Health Department, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), Rural Development, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Education, Food and Civil Supplies, and other departments.
The key discussion focused on the performance of the Family Planning program in the district. The CDO emphasized the importance of family planning in ensuring economic stability, better education, and an improved quality of life for families. He also highlighted that the Family Planning program could be integrated with other departments, and each department must incorporate it into their programs and take ownership.
He suggested utilizing existing platforms for service delivery, raising awareness, and tracking the availability and accessibility of family planning methods. He also recommended installing family planning kits in Panchayat Bhawans and Block Offices. Additionally, he proposed making Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials related to family planning available at ration shops, fair price shops, and other department offices. Outreach camps should also be conducted with the help of PRIs in brick kiln areas. Furthermore, he urged the state government to revise district-specific policies to strengthen family planning services in Shravasti.
The meeting included a brainstorming panel discussion and group exercises to develop block-specific plans and local strategies. More than 60 participants attended the workshop. Key participants included, Additional Director, Directorate of Family Welfare, Lucknow (GoUP) ,Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Shravasti and Dr. Uday Nath, ACMO (RCH).

A block-level reward ceremony was held to recognize and encourage grassroots leadership in community health by honouring the best-performing #VHSNCs, awarding mementos and certificates to dedicated members.

The selection of top-performing VHSNCs was based on well-defined criteria, developed in consultation with District and Block health officials, including the CMO, BCPM, and MOIC. This initiative highlights the collective efforts of VHSNCs in improving local health outcomes and reinforces their role in strengthening community-driven health planning.

The Annual Village Health Action Plan (AVHAP) is a key initiative under the Takeda project “Sashakt Gaon-Viksit Rashtra”, developed in collaboration with the State, District, and Block Health Authorities to enhance decentralized health planning. To ensure a structured approach, consultative approach was followed to design a comprehensive AVHAP including a Guidance Note to facilitate the effective use of AVHAP at the village level by VHSNC members. To ensure successful adoption, the AVHAP was distributed to VHSNCs, and a short training session was conducted to build their capacity in health planning.

This initiative reflects a collaborative effort to support the government in strengthening community-driven health planning and equipping VHSNCs with structured frameworks for effective decision-making at village level.

In the two blocks of #Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh, our Handwashing Campaign under the Takeda Project made waves for better health and #hygiene. Together with the dedicated Village Health, #Sanitation, and #Nutrition Committees (VHSNCs), efforts were made to turn awareness into action!

The campaigns included demonstrations of proper handwashing techniques, paper soap-making workshops with the community, and distribution of soaps, promoting healthier and hygienic habits for the families and communities.

Alongside, we also supported the Government’s polio and #health drives, paving the way for a healthier, more resilient future and fostering sustainable practices and lasting change!

On 14th November we celebrated the spirit of childhood and the joy of learning at our special Bal Mela, organized under the Parivartan Model School Project by Relaxo. The day brought together 724 enthusiastic participants, including students, teachers, and parents, for a memorable experience.

🌟 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲! Our Bal Mela stalls were thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity and reinforce essential lessons for our young learners. Students had a blast with activities like health and hygiene games, where they explored the basics of self-care and cleanliness in a hands-on, enjoyable way.

🎯 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹-𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀! From the "Muzzle Game" to boost concentration, to the "Bull's Eye" challenge aimed at breaking gender stereotypes, each game was crafted to inspire growth and learning.

🎭 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀! The event's highlight was an enchanting puppet show, sharing life skills stories that left a lasting impression on our young audience.

World Diabetes Day 2024 highlights the importance of addressing diabetes as a global public health challenge. This year’s theme, “Breaking Barriers, Bridging Gaps," focuses on reducing diabetes risks and ensuring equitable, affordable, and quality care for everyone living with the condition.

In collaboration with the Health Department, #Sirmaur, @MamtaHIMC with support of Mankind Pharma Limited organised an #NCD camp for 1469 individuals to provide free screenings, consultations and educational resources to raise #awareness about #diabetes prevention and management. The camp aimed to reach underserved communities and empower individuals to take control of their health through early detection and lifestyle modifications.

🌟Celebrating Children's Day with Impact! 🌟

With the continual support of Oracle Financial Services Software Limited (OFSS), Mamta Health Institute for Mother and Child organized a Bal Mela in Noida schools, engaging 2,460 students 250 teachers, and 450 parent/community members.

As part of the School WASH intervention, project aims at improving hygiene and health practices in 200 schools across Noida. The event featured germ-spread demonstration, sustainable hygiene activities, rainwater harvesting models, and workshops on menstrual hygiene and nutrition. It demonstrated youth led activity with active participation from SMCs to ensure sustainability of cleaner schools for healthy and bright future of students.

Continuing with our emphasis on research and evidence generation, we have now published the 126th paper which appeared in the International Journal of Health Sciences.
Pre-conception care pertains to any preventive, promotive, and curative interventions for improving the health outcomes of women. Contrary to the growing burden of intergenerational transmission of chronic diseases, women lacked awareness and access to services or pre-conception care. Considering this, we conducted a cross-sectional study to assess the awareness, perceptions, and practices of pre-conception care among women from young and middle-aged groups in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.

MAMTA in collaboration with SAATHII and State TB Cell, Rajasthan successfully organised one day State Training of Trainer (TOT) on pediatric TB Care guidelines in Jaipur on 26 November 2024.

The objective of the State TOT is to build the knowledge and capacities of pediatricians and enhance their skills on pediatric TB management which includes #TB diagnosis and treatment. Training was inaugurated by the State TB officer Dr Purushottam Soni in the presence of WHO - NTEP consultants, paediatric TB trainers from #Rajasthan facilitated the #TOT. Development partners working in state on TB also were part of this TOT.

This initiative marks a step forward in empowering healthcare professionals to tackle pediatric TB effectively and strengthen TB care in the region.

Our colleauge, Sakshi Dixit, had the incredible opportunity to be a part of the AMHCON 2024: Asia Pacific Conference on Adolescent Mental Health with the theme "Thriving Minds: Fostering Adolescents' Well-being", which took place at the Prasanna School of Public Health (PSPH), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Karnataka, India. She presented a poster entitled, "A Mobile Application to Promote Mental Health Among Adolescents: A Pilot Study,".
She presented on Jagriti’s mobile application, which is designed for the provision of awareness of mental health issues among adolescents. Attending AMHCON 2024 was a profoundly enriching experience for her. The sessions were diverse and reflected the fact that a collaborative approach was the only way to deal with the challenges adolescents faced in today's fast-paced, technology-driven world and reminded everyone that mental health plays an important role in shaping the lives and futures of young people.

The performances aimed to raise awareness about critical #health topics including the services offered by Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs), information on Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases like #TB, #Hypertension, and #Diabetes, and the importance of early detection and regular health check-ups. Additionally, the sessions provided vital knowledge about #HIV & AIDS prevention, the impact of TB in daily life, and the physical and mental benefits of #yoga. These Nukkad Natak performances combined education and entertainment to raise awareness about health risks and encourage communities to take steps toward better health.
