A new ADB-supported pilot in Sri Lanka is helping households and small businesses benefit from solar power generated on public buildings, helping cut energy costs.
The project will also strengthen the power grid, expand battery storage, and create new jobs.
Social protection is more than support during a crisis. It helps people manage risks throughout their lives. But how do we know if it is truly working?

Southeast Asia’s energy needs are increasing.
Through the Regional Connectivity Fund, we're working with partners to help meet those energy needs by financing project preparation for cross-border energy infrastructure under the ASEAN Power Grid.
For more than five decades, ADB’s Asian Development Fund has brought international partners together to fund projects through grants and concessional finance.
Every $1 contributed to the ADF is leveraged by ADB to provide more than $8 in grants and concessional loans.
Central Asia has vast renewable energy potential, but investment remain uneven.
Stronger grids, financing systems, and delivery capacity can help turn that potential into real projects: https://t.co/3O3IKI4TVi

Rising seas and the economic fallout of distant conflicts are placing severe pressure on the Pacific. Yet these nations are responding with remarkable resolve.
Watch highlights from my participation in Pre-COP31 in Fiji and Tuvalu to see how ADB is matching their determination by moving faster to deliver the financing required to protect vulnerable shores and build lasting economic resilience.

I was pleased to join the Pre-COP31 Leaders' Program in Fiji to help shape the global climate agenda in advance of #COP31 in Antalya. The message from the front lines is urgent: the seas are rising faster than finance can get out the door.
With adaptation finance meeting only 26% of projected annual needs in the Pacific, this gap is our call to action. ADB delivered a record $13.5 billion in climate finance last year, but speed and execution matter, too.
Through our upcoming Pacific Approach, we are tailoring operations to island realities to turn adaptation plans into concrete investments. It is time to mobilize resources, build infrastructure that lasts, and deliver results.
Energy demand across Southeast Asia is increasing, but so are the risks.
Addressing them will help provide reliable and affordable energy for nearly 700 million people.

I arrived in Fiji today for Pre-COP31. There is no better place for this discussion than the Pacific. The region is among the most vulnerable to the climate challenge, yet it is also demonstrating leadership in resilience, adaptation, and action.
I will also travel to Tuvalu to see firsthand how climate adaptation investments are helping protect livelihoods and build resilience against rising climate risks.
The experiences and priorities of Pacific countries must help shape the outcomes at #COP31 in November. I look forward to engaging with leaders and partners while in the Pacific on advancing solutions that support vulnerable communities.
